Scanning Photos For Editing

Hey Everyone-

Im working on a documentary and will be needing to get a bunch of photos imported into an Avid or FCP editing station. I dont have a laptop or a scanner, so I was wondering what the best solution to this might be? I was thinking I might go to Kinko's to do some scans, so I'd just need the photos and flyers turned into JPEGS before I imported them right?

This is probably a pretty basic question but I wanted to make sure I do this right the first time....

Are you going to pay them to scan or do it yourself there? I don't know how much kinkos charges but I'd guess if you have more than a few it may be cheaper to just buy a scanner, unless you have like 600 images then you should pay someone to do that stuffz.
