saving files for log and capture later?

I haven't got final cut studio yet. (rolling pennies right now).
I want to just copy files off of my sdhc cards and then log and transfer later to final cut once i have bought it.
Can I just re copy them onto empty sdhc cards and then perform log and transfer as if it was the original footage?

You can do that. I just make copies of the cards on to DVDs. I haven't had any troubles importing from them, or from copying the cards to a directory on a hard drive. The log/transfer window in FC allows you to change where you are importing from, copying the entire directory structure of the card you shot to does help though!
