FS7: Saved by 4K

Made a film, showed it to the client. Only thing the man said; 'They (his workers) don't wear helmets. And they should in that situation.'
A few shots showed men without helmets during a lifting operation with a crawler crane.

Happily I filmed in 4K so I could easily crop the picture. Saved my day.

Interesting situation though.. would that be considered your fault.. the lack of helmets .. along time ago I shot at a nuclear power station.. and almost every shot they would run up and say.. wait ! this or that safety measure wasn't in place !

Whenever I'm shooting in situations where safety equipment must be worn, uniforms must be perfect, etc. I always have a designated client representative who is responsible for making sure everything is perfect. I make it very clear right at the beginning that they are welcome to stop the shot, look at the monitor, look through the viewfinder, check playback, or do whatever they want -- but if anything needs to be re-shot later because someone didn't have safety glasses or their tie was the wrong color, it is on their dime. Once they know any re-shoots will cost $$, suddenly everyone is much more attentive and I can't remember the last time anything actually needed to be re-shot.

Yes I should have payed more attention. But the problem is that for normal digging the people surrounding the machine don't need helmets. But when the machine is used to lift something all workers must wear helmets.
And during the job that happened.

I sold two versions of the film to different clients (contractor and sub contractor), the contractor had another issue, I filmed a bird-nest with chicks, very nice, but it was too close to the work. Work should be stopped because of the nest. Now I had to remove that clip from the montage. (while the birds didn't care, we even spotted a very rare field-owl, midst of all the work).

Nothing like a 4k extreme hair cut I always say.
