Hey guys I really respect all of you out there giving advice, and i thought it would be nice to collect some er obvious answers that some noobs like me would get help with!

So like a lot of folk seeing the DVX100b they now see the HVX200 and think, well better to keep saving huh.

So if a chap buys an HVX200 they won't be able to record any DVCPro HD unless they are recording either onto a P2 card, or the firestorm external drive or straight onto a laptop yep?

What kind of connector is used for the laptop to camera solution? (as most noobs will have easier access to a decent laptop than the others.)

For editing footage recorded what editing systems can handle it for the PAL HVX. Most PC users have premiere, what is the latest version that can handle HVX200 720 and 1024 footage without compression or loss of quality. Is that only possible with premiere at the moment by using other outside software like raylight?

What about Avid or Final Cut? Have they presently got solutions for editing HD from the HVX200.

Basically *grovel grovel* Im asking what would be the best set up for a low budget filmmaker using the PAL hvx200 and editing specs.

Im perhaps not as noobish as i sound but lol i think it would be good to collect this info just to have it together for the more noobish among us.

Oh finally! Just out of curiousity, what is the editing times like for the application of filters for DVCpro HD and HDV like, ive heard HDV takes a lot longer (i.e. editing on cameras like the canon hl etc)

Oh and finally finally! Does the saturation and gamma options in the hvx make it possible to recreate most magic bullet style effects so the horrendous post production times can be reduced?

Right

Standard FireWiew 400, like DV

There's no PAL solutin for anything but 1080. The wise cows with the big hats says: Wait for NAB.

Both have. The 720 (p)roblem applies to both

DVCPRO HD is like ... Very Good in FCP at least. Fast!

Me not know. Some here would say Yeah! I guess. Haven't seen nothin' myself yet, but don't expect Varicam tweakability.

Raylight+Sony Vegas and Raylight+Adobe Premiere both support
the PAL HVX200 including 720-25P.
