Save Andromeda/Hydra!!!

Reading back through my last post, I may have discouraged potential buyers from those willing to sell a used system. If the above post is discouraging for owners or adds to your angst in making a buy for a used one, don't let it dissuade you. That's certainly not my intent. Few cameras and no other modifications exist that can provide the capabilities Andromeda provides. This adventure has been worth it in every sense of the word. For less then what I would have spent on an HVX, I can now do 720p (and higher) in amazing color space using a DVX. Chroma Key work in post is now much less demanding, reducing the work to pull an exceptional key by at least an order of magnitude.

This isn't a camera system (and I emphasize the word "system" here), for the faint of heart. It requires you to learn about your camera, sharpens your engineering skills, refines your work-flow, and overall makes you a better problem-solver. It forces you to learn (which, is attractive to me in it's own right). Each of those attributes is incredibly valuable. Every problem I've run into can be, and in most cases have been solved, and many owners have solved them in better and more creative ways than I have. This system can even be turned into a run & gun setup with a bit more work (in the process of doing so now).

My intent in the post above was to flush out those owners who've solved problems, reveal what they've done, how they've done it, and what was achieved in the end. The availability of sharable knowledge is what drives any technical or artistic community. (stepping off the apple-crate, and slowly backing away....)

Website is down ... I can't sigh !

What's going on ?

The project was shut down a while ago. The post before yours was from early 2008. And, damn you for getting my hopes up for a second that it might have been revived.
