Saturday Night Special

I'll be posting stills shortly.

However, all our posters are composites. None of them are "real." How do you feel about the compositing on our four posters?

I think it looks good, except the shadows on the first one feel obviously artificial to me. But then again, it's a still, out of context. That artificial look may be part of your "feel" and it might really work. I know far too much about how different a still is from something in motion.

Anyway, looking forward to it. And I agree with all your thoughts on adapters and equipment in general. I'm gearing up for our next shoot with the M2, and one of the things I'm worried about is having enough light that we can maintain wide depth of field. I don't want to be forced into shallow focus on each shot.

Doug -

Thanks for your reply. The shadows are real. The bullet shells really are lying on pavement. That part isn't a composited element.

Oh, I wasn't talking about the poster shot. That looks great. And that's a clever way of getting it done (although it might have been cheaper to just rent a SLR and a macro lens!).

Anyway, the shot I was talking about specifically was the "Eddie Hawkes" one... which might very well be real but something feels very strange about that shadow he's casting.

As for your lighting advice... well, unfortunately I'm no electrician, and I don't know any either. I think it probably isn't very practical (or safe!) for me to try to build those things myself. And anyway, the more lights you have, the more crew you need to rig them, the more people you have to feed, the more time it takes... it starts to add up to a lot. The look of the project demands a "natural lighting" look in any case. I'm hoping we can achieve it with as close to actual natural lighting as possible.

Clips? So what are your plans for distribution? Is it going to be up for sale soon or are you going to do web-streaming screening?

Congrats on final audio mix. Must be exciting~!
