Satis 2005 (paris) - little report

Oh, man! Heck, you can get FOUR 4GB cards for the price of ONE 8GB card at those prices!!! That means for less than $2000 I get 32GB of P2 cards!!!!!!!!

I really hope those prices are accurate. This camera just keeps getting better and better! I'd much rather shoot to P2 cards than to a fragile hard-disk solution like the Firestore. Too much can go wrong.

Thats whats great about P2. The cam will just get better and better. In the future we will have 128 GB cards. Imagine 2 of those in the cam. thats 256 minutes straight shooting in 1080P mode.

I'm really excited and not the least bit surprised to hear about falling P2 prices - we will be looking at 16GB cards for less than a grand before you know it.

If this is true about the P2, how will someone like Spec-Comm reimburse those who alreayd plunked down near 9K for a HVX with 2 P2s? At the current price with the base camera and 2 P2s it would only cost $7500 for the bundle, are they willing to match that or alter the price at the release ?

I just sold my DVX today. Cash for the HVX now. Rush, take my cash !

I can't see how those prices are accurate. I mean, yes, P2 prices should be coming down, but that seems extremely low. So sure, hope for the best, but don't be surprised if this is just yet another inaccurate report...

Prices without VAT, for sure...

key (for american users):
VAT = value added tax (european union members tax)

Oh please let this be true! Man, I'll buy two P2 8GB from the start!

I whished Panasonic "marketingers" would read this and just decide to: "let's make this untrue myth true - don't you see how many cards more we could sell for still a good price? - Maybe that means more gain than selling very few of expensive cards... - just let's throw them on the market for that myth-price and keep the price at that level until we got out planned gain for our first planned P2 prices."

Selling few for a high price? Or selling more for a lower price? - It's a difficult calculation, but forcing the P2 popularity by dumping it's price early (and also before other manufacturers will get the permission to produce alternative P2s) could be a consumer-friendly marketing strategy that's perhaps even more lucrative for Panasonic... Who knows - perhaps Panasonic itself created this myth to see how people react in the internet-fora.... and I hope they see that people are willing to buy much more cards if the price is at the said level.

Operation "Price-Myth" is terminated.
Result: highly above estimated feed-back.
Consequence: make myth true - correct price according to well-recieved myth at HVX launch. - F.Y.E.O. - Sig. M.E.I.Co.Ltd.
