Sata drives

I have four ST3500320AS 500 GB SATAs with 32 MB caches in my MacPro.

Kona system test shows them at 105 MB/s read/write.

Disk Utility Raid of two show nearly 200 MB/s.

I removed the jumpers. Takes a tweezer.

thanks so much. did you bench test before removing the jumpers?
ive read mixed things about it actually increasing performance.

im going to test my system tonite with the kona software.
debating removing all the jumpers.

im running a very similar set-up and just bought another seagate.

is it just a matter of pulling the two jumpers?
seems to easy!!

thanks again!

Apparently they are shipped with the slow speed set as a default but the correct configuration on a Mac Pro is with the jumper removed.

so i take it you also pulled the jumper?

so strange that they would do this....

also...
i have some drives already mounted/formatted in my machine....

would you recommed i pull them out and yank those jumpers?

curious
have you done a bench test?

thanks for the insight

just curious, have you guys had to update your internal hard drives?
what do you think is the best solution for your old internal SATAs?

right now i have:
1 250GB (apps drive)
2 300GB (raided)
1 700GB

i just purchased a 1 1TB drive.
trying to decide what to do?

ps
are pins #7 & 8 the ones to remove?
thanks~
