Hi

Anyone heard of this site? Anyone had any good/bad experiences?

I discovered it yesterday and the prices just seem too good to be true so I want to get some background info first.

I'm basically after a DVX100B. The site quotes $1600 (USD). I contacted them by email and got a reply. The price is for a new, boxed unit, and the price includes shipping (with insurance).

They didn't even spell "Camcorder" correctly on their site in the main navigation at the top. I'm gonna have to say noooooooooo...

The first line in their 'about' section reads:

"Thank you for visiting Sarlon Inc. is leading online source for Camera and Camcoder."

Those camcoders are all the rage.
I gotta get me one.



Yeah - scam.
The only surprising thing about this scam place is that they are NOT in Brooklyn.
They are in Indonesia.

Talk about a SCAM!

So out of curiosity I went through their website and found that you couldn't actually order anything...you simply add stuff to your cart, and it sends them an email. You can't pay online - they contact you via email to 'confirm the order'

SOoooo....I went ahead and filled out their order page using an old email address and got this response a few minutes later:

Hi,

Your total payment for:
1 unit Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III Digital Camera = USD 6000

The price is include shipping cost and insurance. The product is original,
brand new, sealed box and 1 year International Warranty. We will ship the
package with FedEx Delivery (2-3 business days). For the payment, we
accept wire transfer only. Our company will give 10% discount if you order
4 units or more. So, if you agree give me your complete shipping address
to package your order. I will give our bank account details next.

Yeah... and I'm sure their fleet of guys in their imaginary warehouse are shipping the camera right out to me.
Jeez.

The sad thing is, this site won't last too long... and shortly after it goes away another with a new name and the same old scam will pop up.

There is a reason people say BUY FROM AN AUTHORIZED DEALER

Damn! ...and here I was getting all excited.

BTW - I'm based in the UK so if anyone can advise on where to find best prices for a PAL model I would greatly appreciate it.

Yeah, Luis, I also got the "wire transfer" reply when I first contacted them. Oh well....
