What do you like about it over the "A", did you sell your 100a to buy the 100B?
Yes I did sell my A to buy the B.

I was immediately surprised by the improvement in the quality of the image produced both by the EVF and the LCD. The difference is quite obvious to someone who's been using the A for the past 20 months or so.

Secondly, it's very nice to be able to view an unsqueezed image when shooting 16:9, and of course the new underscan feature is very reassuring when framing.

Thirdly, and probably most important as far as I'm concerned, I love the possibility to remote-control the focus (and also the iris, to a lesser extent), especially as I intend to invest in a Mini35-like system (probably Wayne Kinney's SG35). For me, that alone would have been worth the 500 euros I had to disburse to buy the B model.

I haven't had time to actually shoot any footage but I will be busy doing just that this coming weekend... and just based on what I have seen so far, I do recommend to anyone who can afford it to trade in the A for the B. Plus, the black finish *is* cute. :beer:

The "B" is better in a lot of ways, but you didn't even mention my favorite improvement: the ECHO is gone! When shooting progressive, if you set "HP MODE" to "LIVE", there is no more echo. That echo used to drive me batty about the 100A, and is probably the main reason I never upgraded from the 100 to the 100A.

Wow...that is an impressive setup. I'm leaning more and more to the "B". If only I could conquer my "A".

Sweet, That's pretty freakin nice. Doesn' look like you'll have to worry about accessories for a while.

What the heck is that thing on the bottom?

Haven't had a chance to appreciate that so far, but I'm looking forward to it Barry ! :grin:

Indeed it is. Outrageously expensive but a wonderful production tool for which I find new uses every time. Here is another picture of it :

did you buy the skater mini? list us all your upgrades!
Yes Joe, I did buy the Skater. I was just too excited about it. :grin:

As far as holiday season upgrades are concerned, here goes the before/after :

DVX100 A ==> 100 B
Manfrotto 501 not-so-fluid tripod head ==> Manfrotto 503 genuinely fluid head
No mattebox ==> Chrosziel 4 x 4
2 halogen worklights ==> 1 Kino-Flo + 4 redheads + AutoPole + clamps, etc.
No dolly device ==> Skater + wheelchair :happy:
Odd broomstick ==> Gitzo carbon fiber boom

It's true I've been a very good boy last year :engel017: ... but still, Santa's been quite busy with me this season ! :thumbsup:

Four redheads to do your lighting. I've got only one around here and she's sometimes more than I can handle. What a man...

Darn ! I dare not say... More than a DVX100 B... less than an HVX200... well, a bit above 4000 euros with the laser pointer and flight case... :undecided

But man, do I love this thing !! :laugh:

thats a beautiful setup, looks great im more jealous than u can imagine, would love to see some shots of the mini?
