Sankor/Kowa Anamorphic Lens Discussion and Footage

I'm curious, how are you attaching the lens to Nikons?

Do you think these will attach to the fronts of Super 16mm Zeiss lenses and or Zeiss Standard Speed T2.1 PL lenses?

What about Zeiss ZF lenses?

I've been looking for an anamorphic solution that won't require that I go to something like Round front Lomos or worse, a heavy and fast PL Zoom... but choices are looking slim.

Thanks.

Uhmmm tricky question. I don´t think any of these adapters will work well for shooting a feature, or a short, or anything that involves racking focus and shooting more than 1 shot per hour. They´re basically OK for taking stills or doing a shot here and there, but a pain in the ass because of the double focusing.
You can´t use wide angle lenses on them.
You can't use long lenses on them.
So you´re pretty much limited to using something like 50-100mm and that´s it.

If you want to shoot in anamorphic, you´re best bet is going to be renting some lomos, that´s the only way I see. Even an Iscorama has issues.

BTW, the way I´ve attached the prominar was by glueing 2 52mm rings (UV filters without the glass) to the back part of the lens (not the rear element, the back of the lens, you would understand if you see it) because I couldn´t find any adapter ring that would fit in the back and because doing it this way I can get the nikon lens way closer to the rear element so I get less vignetting.

I have used both a Canon 7D and Panasonic GH1(Hacked) with a Kowa 2X anamorphic for bell and howell and love it. I am currently using a Nikon D7000 with the Kowa.

BTW,

I use an Anamorphic lens adapter clamp by "REDSTAN" found on Ebay to attach my Kowa 2X anamorphic lens. I only use Nikkor/Nikon lenses because they mostly all have 52mm front filter threads, which is the thread size of the screw-in rear thread of the anamorphic adapter clamp from "Redstan".
