Surf
I shot this last summer while the swells were crackin'
It was brutal someone slammed into me and the DVX, also lost the cam when I bounced bottom along with the DVX and I lost it in the surf~!
Shooting surf is tough, your swimming with one hand all the while trying to stay alive.
Good times

pretty cool all around, however it would have been nice to see more actual boarding footage (without hitting the brake of the wave) also, just curious what water housing kid are you using?

Well, those pounders are about a head high HAWAIIAN. Sandy's Beach holds the record worldwide for broken necks and backs (actual quote from lifeguard)...I might be crazy but it's just a chance I wasn't willing to take (at least that day) :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) It's tough with the housing to get a clean shot from shore. I am using the EWA marine bag which held up well that day. The next day I was heading out in to the surf....which with a camera is extremely hard. A massive wave rolled in ( at first the water it was chest high then at my ankles) I turned around to brace the camera like a baby And BAM~!! I got so slammed it tore the handle and ripped the cam from me..I know it hit bottom and hard but it popped back up I snagged it and continued shooting.

Oh I forgot to mention it was my first time in the water with my DVX :)

What the!

What the!

First off, some one would have to pay me a pretty penny to get into the water with my DVX100b. At least $5,000 Dollars. Second, the Video wasn't done very well. But you have B:banned:S taking your DVX in the Ocean.

As someone recently getting into action sports/aquatic video, I have to say, I can't believe you took that AMAZING camera out in a BAG! I'm not even shooting any water stuff with a DVX at this point, just a PC series Handycam, and I wouldn't even think of taking it out in a bag.

I've also been watching lots of water footage. I think you need to do the same . The vingetting from the bag is very distracting. I don't think it would be so bad if it was produced by a fisheye lens.

That being said, tomorrow will be the first day we bring our housing out with us, so maybe I'll need to put my foot in my mouth then.

In Hawaii theres a saying which rings very true "Go Big or Go Home" I need a lightweight housing.

It's funny you'd say that, these pounders err I mean waves come on with such force it doesn't matter. The cam gets bumped well then it's off center. It's very difficult to see excatly what your shooting. I turn the LCD around but you can't see.
