Sandwich cutting: vertical or diagonal

This question immediately had me recall a reception in a small town's community hall, following a funeral service. I was tending bar with another guy. There was a "crew" of about 5 elderly women in the kitchen preparing the food. The organizer told the women this was going to be a crowd mostly of men who lived for "huntin' and fishin' and riding their snowmobiles and motorcycles, so keep it simple - big sandwiches on big slices of bread a big buy can grab and eat while standing - not the church socials they were used to preparing.
The funeral guests started showing up and sure enough, I am 5'10 and was about 250 lb at the time and these big hairy guys made me feel positively trim. And they were hungry and thirsty. Imagine the amusement when the sandwiches were put out on buffet tables and the women had ignored instructions and stuck to "this is the way we always do it" so the crusts were cut off and the sandwiches quartered. They sort of got shoveled onto plates 4 or more at a time and the veggie strips disappeared by the fist full.

This is a Detroit style pizza to me. Jet's Pizza (large square). In this case a tasty Chicken Parm. I'll take one of those middle pieces.
I had a 16" pineapple & Canadian bacon last week. Cut it in half. And no regrets. For some reason, neither small angular slices nor squares appeal to me. Too much fussing.

But, a few years ago, I used to visit an all-you-can-eat pizza joint and they only put out slices. And I didn't complain one bit.

I figure if my topic can get John Brawley banned then I can start targeting other respected forum members like Charles Papert and Mitch Gross, until eventually all the respected forum members are banned leaving, well, me, the most respected forum member. Even JPNola will love me then because there won't be any other people left to love.

You can't bait me Coughlin, I'll never engage on a subject this controversial. Never, I say! I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!

I love pineapple, but do not, I repeat, do not ever, put it on a pizza of mine. Pineapple on pizza ruins TWO great foods. You can slice it vertically, horizontally or diagonally, but it doesn’t matter. Neither can be saved at that point. Just walk away, go to bead hungry and start over the next day.

Pineapple resets the taste buds better than a tomato paste (a raw tomato is much better but it suffers in an oven). Without it, something like a typical "supreme" begins to lose taste after half a dozen of bites. Then you have to mix in a drink. Beer is OK but a wine cooler/wine spritzer is better.

Hoagies and cheesesteaks should only ever be cut horizontally, lengthwise, to allow unfolding of the bun and insertion of the meats etc., and no more. All other forms of bread-and-meat are mere baby play 'sandwiches.'
