SanDisk Pro 280 MB/s Cards and 6D RAW?

After considering the advice of folks on the forum -- thanks! -- I pulled the trigger on a 6D over the 5D3. Just made more sense based on my interests and seriousness. I have a few 45 MB/s cards, but wondering what the above is doing with RAW video, which I plan to explore in earnest. Thought there was a choke points in the recording speed -- of course, that could be irrespective of the available card speed..Anyway, maybe someone knows whether it's worth the hefty price tag. Thanks

Basically, the SD controller is the bottleneck on writing to the cards. If you go to this thread, then click through on the spreadsheet, it will list the limitations/write speeds for each camera:

It said that the 6D has a SD card write limit of 40 MB/s.

The best cost to speed ratio that I have seen lately are the Lexar 600x 32 GB SD cards that B&H and Adorama were selling for $17.95. It was $1 cheaper per card at Adorama if you bought 3 or more.

I have 4 on "back order." I understand they will ship when they come in. Apparently those are back at their regular price now?

Before they were $18 each, they were $49 for 2 at B&H, the week before. So watch for sales. It looks like they are positioning for newer, higher end cards.

The PNY cards that are tested in this link are $20 at Amazon. and are almost as fast. But this is the first time I have even used Lexar. I always used Sandisk, never ever had an error. So I am not ready to trust PNY. Obviously, YMMV. :}

Here are some other Magic Lantern links that I posted a while ago. Just learning all of this myself:

I saw you had posted the 24-105, so I thought you had gotten the 5DIII. Congratulations on the 6D! Did you buy a kit?

You might be able to get a bit more on the 24-105 here. Not as many of them as some places ... Good luck.

Is your friend selling the 5DIII? Not that I need one ... :}

Cheers! Good luck Have a lot of fun, and a great summer!

Best,
Michael
