Hey guys,

I have just purchased an EX1R w/16gb sxs card.

I found these SanDisk cards and i am curious as the whether they are any good or not?
I am thinking that it may be a good idea to get a few of these smaller, cheaper cards so that i can have them offloading via a reader while the other one is in use etc... How do these stand up to the Sony cards?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Tom

Thanks Barry.
I was trying to lookmore into whether they are good quality and hold up well in the field...?

Thanks

Tom

They're fine, Tom. I've had one 8 gig card since the day I bought my EX1 and it has worked flawlessly. I'd buy some more of them if I could find any but SanDisk removed every trace of the cards from their US website......weird.

Thanks a lot for that!
I think buying a quantity of those as well as maybe a bigger Sony card might be a good way to go...
Im looking into renting the camera out so i want to make sure i have plenty of storage...

Thanks

Tom

I think Sandisk discontinued them when Sony came out with the 32gb SxS-1 cards at $525 USD. The SxS-1 is rated at 5 years of use, but that is to full capacity every day for 5 years straight. Very few people would get through that in 10 years. The SxS-1 is more bang for the buck.

Thanks Duke M!

They still seem to be avail' in the UK so might pick one or two up for emergencies and rentals!

One more thing....I believe that SanDisk was making the cards for Sony anyway. They just slapped their label on the cards. Anybody know if this was indeed the case?

I thought that when they were originally released, they were named S by S because it stood for "Sony By Sandisk". I don't have any documentation to support that, but that's how I remembered it being introduced at NAB...
