Sandisk 32GB Class 10 SD cards - Who has the "Real" stuff & the best pricing?

that's a terrible price.

I wouldn't worry about whether it's transcend or any of another major brand. Transcend is usually a little cheaper
so people here like them. It's a good card.

But not better or worse than Patriot or Kingston or even adata. People just have personal
experiences and make sweeping generalities about quality.

Newegg has 32gb Patriot class 10 for 42.99 after 10 rebate.
Personally, I like 16gb cards, because if it does break, which only one I've ever had
out of like 200 has, less breaks.

I don't shoot uninterupted hours at a time, so I don't mind changing cards.

Transcen 16gb class 10 is 29$ at newegg

I hear what you're saying. There are many different ways someone can save money on accessories. Personally however, I don't feel that SD cards are one of them. I'll buy cheap batteries, cheap unsteady-cams, cheap location monitor (maybe), etc., but when your entire production is on the line, I think it is best to buy the best, most reliable card possible.

By the way, I mainly DO use 16gb cards. I wanted just a couple 32gb for doing "longer" live events.

Thanks,
Tom

I was trying to find a real good price on the Sandisk 32GB Class 10 SD cards and I came upon OEMPCWorld.com, $104.85

http://www.oempcworld.com/Merchant2...OD&Store_Code=O&Product_Code=SDHC32GB-Extreme

Anyone know if these folks are legitimate and selling real deal?

Thanks,
Tom
I know nothing about that store, but it sounds like some major red flags to me. Most online stores who are authorized legitimate resellers are charging at least $157 for that card, according to bing shopping. "oempcworld.com" is not listed as an authorized Sandisk reseller. Therefore, I would think the risk for getting a counterfeit card is higher than I'd be comfortable with.

There are tons of fake/counterfeit cards out there. Shopping for rock-bottom pricing is a good way to get stuck with a counterfeit. Shopping only at authorized resellers should be immunization from getting stuck with a fake.

Here's a list of authorized SanDisk resellers:

You are absolutely, entirely, completely, and unconditionally correct on this. You should win an award for this comment.

I agree. But patroit, kingston, transcend are the same reliablity as sandisk or that ripoff panasonic brand that was like $200 for 16gb last year. There's no evidence to support otherwise. They all fail very rarely and at the same frequency. they all will have an occasional bad production run. There's no reason to buy a cutrate card when these brands are so inexpensive. A couple of years ago they weren't.
It has to do with chip prices nowadays that they are so cheap, not quality.

It's just marketing that claims otherwise, like the idiot in Fry's that tries to sell me an sdhc card that is "especially for video". There's no such thing. It's a different label on the same card.

Delkin Devices and Hoodman both have excellent support and a reseller network in the US. I encourage people to spread out the risk and go with 8GB and 16GB only.

Respectfully -- the only response I can come up with to this statement is -- how much crack are you smoking?

Run a search on this forum. There are nearly two dozen Transcend card failure reports. A series of Patriot failure reports. And just this past week a dual failure of Kingston cards was reported. On the other hand, in over two years there's one, vague, unspecified model, somewhat shady report of a Sandisk failure.

Everything you wrote is your hope -- not facts. You hope you're not making a mistake, and you're hoping other people will hope with you and join you in your choices. Your assertion that all cards are created equal is pure fantasy. Do research, not editorial, and learn about the different protocols and manufacturing standards.

I'm not coming down hard on you because of anything personal -- but the hopes you're pedaling in that post have the very real potential to harm others. Will you be there for some kid who's filming his first wedding and who read on this forum that Transcend is the "same reliability as sandisk"?

"patroit, kingston, transcend are the same reliablity as sandisk or that ripoff panasonic brand" PROVE IT. Of course, you can't.

Want facts? Run a search on this forum and tally up the card failure reports.

Guys! Gee!

I appreciate all the alternative suggestions, however I have already decided I AM going to buy Sandisk. What I had hoped to accomplish with the origial post was simply to find a good price from a reputable dealer on a 32gb class 10 SDHC SANDISK card. I may be waisting my money, however I at least will have the piece of mind in knowing that if a failure occurs, I made every reasonable attempt to assure myself and my client that the problem would not be due to me trying to be cheap. I'd hate to be using something like a Kingston, loose a days worth of footage, and have the client ask me why I didn't use a "better" card. EVEN F IT'S ONLY PERCEIVED, it will definately look better to a client to say I was using the top of the line Sandisk. Perception can make a big differance in this business (sadly).

That is why I dual record with a device like Convergent Design. Plus I get the benefits of higher data rates. My 'cheap' SDHC cards are my back-up to my Firestore or Convergent Design.
The new JVC camera dual records. Maybe Panasonic will do the same. (better yet one SDHC and one CF port that will dual record.)
