Sand bag correct size for a DVX100B

I'm about to build a couple of sand bags to be used with a DVX100B.
Does any one know what is the correct size to choose for the bag?
Any suggestion for the material to be used for the outer skin? I'll be usiung plastic granulate for the filling.

I've heard of buying used childrens' jeans and cutting the pant legs off. Then sew up one end, fill it with sand and sew up the other end.
