Howdy,

The Bay Area Video Coalition (www.bavc.org) is hosting another HVX/DVX user meeting TONIGHT 7-10pm. Topics covered include visual/technical differences in various camera settings, as well as another redrock M2 demonstration.

BAVC is located at 2727 Mariposa Street, 2nd floor in the mission district. @ Bryant. When you arrive at the double glass doors, use the keypad to dial in (I think its #201). The receptionist will buzz you in and tell you which room the meeting is in.

See y'all there!

I was really looking foward to goin, especially with that redrock demo, but im gunna be at the office late tonight, and i would be able to make it until 8:30pm at earliest. I work at the office in san jose, but live in south san francisco, plus i have to drop off my commuter compadre.

how bout you guys do a video of the whole thing and upload it some where :)

yeah, it's 4:45 and i wont be finished anytime soon, no way I could be there before 9. Beyond postponing, taping the whole demo could be cool, I really wanna see.

Hey, I made it and damn it was a GREAT meeting! Tons of info, the demo of how to set up the M2 will save me about a week (supposed to get my M2 this week), and good times all around. Thanks for making it happen. How about a demo of the Spec-Comm Cineporter next time?

The pairing of the 85mm/f1.4 Nikon lens with the M2 was sweet. How that all gets put together seemed like a professional jerry-rig. I love the spinning glass and flying dust. Great demo, Sam.

Thanks for arranging that great space, projector, Arri, etc. Dillon.

Can someone post a short list of the highlights and whatever you learned? When is the next DVX night at BAVC?

Man, I wish I had seen this earlier. I've been waiting for a dvxuser meetin in SF for so long and then when it finally pops up I miss it. Just my luck...

Oh well, maybe next time. Sounds pretty cool though.

I was shooting or I would have been there too. I've had my M2 with HD acromat apart and tweeking quite frequently. I love the M2, but getting that sweet spot is a bit of a challenge.

Yes - the M2 demo was **awesome**. As well as seeing the Marshall LCD display - what a nice piece of gear. And chakamonkey showed us how to break down scene files.

Should we try for the 3rd wednesday of next month, or the 4th wednesday?

I should be able to make one. I also have the Mashal Monitor as well. Here is a picture of my setup:

if i knew how to set it all up like that, then i would. My problem isnt money, its know how. I dont know the names of any of that stuff. constantly confused about the under bar things, the lens adapter thing. the lenses and all that crap. Hell how much to just buy all that crap from you LOL.

can you list all that stuff on there and how much? model numbers would be nice.

From your photo I'm wondering if you decided to shim the M2 instead of the HVX? (since the rails go back so far)
Why and how did that work out?
