San Disk Releases 32 GB Flash drive

no I don't think so. If i am not mistaken, Panasonic P2 is of a higher quality. Plus it appears that this product you linked to isn't really ready to hit shelves soon for the masses.

Up to now P2 were based on SD flash memory chips (and RAID blabla...)

But, Solid State Disks SSD already exist, and are on the market:
(This US shop: http://www.dvnation.com/nand-flash-ssd.html)

They are 150 % faster than HDD.
in 2007, several SSD laptops have been announced (samsung), this is a major storage breakthrough and market trend.

Second, the NAND technology is another IC breakthrough, allowing new memory capacities and smaller.

So, P2s (2/4/8) were based on a certain technology level, and upcoming larger P2 could be influenced at least by NAND, because it is a compact chip memory technology.

The SSD can be seen as a VERY FAST static Hard Disk with standard interfaces.(IDE, SATA, SCSI, USB,...) Why not Cardbus one day?

Okay, they are expensive but wait, 32Gig IDE Flash Disk is only USD1200.

If you think the CinePorter way, imagine a device with a P2 interface accepting plugin (removable) Flash Disks.
