Samyang/Rokinon 85mm T1.5 - which mount/adaptor?

I'm about to buy the Samyang (Rokinon) 85mm T1.5 to use on the AF101 and the GH2. Which mount should I go for and could someone recommend a decent adaptor please? I'm guessing Nikon based on other posts but I'm a little confused about the different Nikon mounts (this is my first experience with buying an adaptor). Thanks for any advice.

As a bonus question, what are the main differences between the T1.5 and the f1.4? Am I right in thinking that the apertures are actually the same?

Thanks EndCredits.

At the moment I have only MFT mount lenses (plus a Takumar 135mm which has a permanently fitted mft mount. Actually I just picked up a Yashica 55mm f2 at a car boot sale for £5, plus a £15 adaptor off eBay - I expected it to be awful but in fact it's really rather good!)

I need a bit of a nudge to convince me whether it is worth me buying the Speedbooster for just this one Nikon-mount lens, or whether I should start to offload my mft glass in favour of more Nikon/Nikon mount lenses. Is this a sensible thing? I shoot quite a wide range of material, from corporate case studies and training to sketches and documentaries (with the odd event video thrown in, which I reluctantly do to pay the mortgage.) I'm very often in less than ideal lighting so fast is good

Am I also right in thinking that the Speedbooster would in effect turn the 85mm into a 60mm, or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

I have mostly "native" m4/3 lenses (14mm, 20mm, 25mm, 45mm, and a few zooms), a couple of older Nikon AI/AIS lenses I use with Nikon F to m4/3 adapters from RainbowImaging and Bower. So when I spotted a Rokinon 85mm Cine T1.5 lens in Nikon F mount in B&H's "used dept" in brand new shape I jumped on it.

My reasoning: Other manual lenses in Nikon mount, if I ever go for a Nikon these will fit, if I go back to Canon (I'm very pleased with GH3 though), the Nikon to EOS adapter rings are very simple and quite inexpensive.

We have the entire Rokinon cine set for our AF100 and Gh2's. We ddecided to go with the canon ef mount because around here we would probably much more likely to run into using Canon. Sometimes clients are specific and I've had more requests for canon cameras than anything else. We have a Fotodiox EF to m43 mount on each lens, mostly because they're cheap. They haven't had any problems though and all work great. Love the Rokinons.

Thanks all for your experiences.

Still a little unclear about what effect the SpeedBooster will have on the equivalent fov. Please excuse my ignorance!

If I understand it correctly, the 85mm lens on its own will give me an equivalent fov of 170mm on the Af101 or GH2, given the 2x crop, right? With the Speedbooster's 0.7x factor, does that give me an equivalent 120mm?

Ian, I shoot almost exclusively with the GH3 and have no native M43 glass and do just fine. I have the samyang 85mm with the Nikon mount. I'd recommend the Nikon version because Nikon mounted lenses are very versatile in regards to being able to adapt them for different bodies, whether it be a Canon camera, Panny, Nikon, etc. You'll have the flexibility to use them on pretty much any camera you might own in the future.

Get the speed booster if you like the idea of making your lens even faster and the reduced focal length, otherwise many of the cheaper, simple adapters you can find online will do just fine.

Remember, that whole crop factor business is only relevant when you're coming from a still camera/dslr world. When you're ccomparing to double perf 35mm motion picture film, there's almost no crop factor.

Thanks Mike.

Just sprung for the Samyang/Rokinon 85mm and I'm now trying to find a supplier in the UK who has the NIK-MFT Speed Booster in stock! Other than my Voigtlander 25mm f0.9, I'm not precious about any of my lenses. In fact, I'm rather excited at the prospect of being able to get hold of a faster zoom to replace the Lumix 14-140. But that's a question for a new post.
