Samsung Space Selfie project

This is the latest thing I am working on. Not much I can say beyond what's been officially released, but it's pretty cool and the campaign is now live so I thought I'd share it.

Basically, we are sending some Galaxy S10s to the stratosphere, and uploading people's selfies to the S10 where it gets displayed against the backdrop of space. Then we photograph it and transmit it back to Earth, where it will be sent back to the end user. So you can get your face, or your cat, in space.

In that article you can see the commercial, and a BTS video talking about it.



If you want to participate, you can go to www.Samsung.com/spaceselfie to upload your pic. At this time it looks like it's region restricted to the UK or Europe. I don't know if it will be opened up to more territories or not.

The campaign is accepting selfies now, and the flight should run from 10/23 through 10/31.

According to the article, they are trying something totally different, not paying a penny for above the line talent or in broadcast advertising. They are mainly aiming at the social sharing networks to spread the word.

If they do decide to broadcast it, we can deliver. We have full camera coverage on board the payload, with live transmission back to Earth, plus a ground-based optical tracking station.

So I don't know what all their plans are, but I wouldn't be surprised if they added a live webcast stream or if they released more videos about the project etc.
 
Sweet! Yeah, the response has been enormous, especially since it's not easily accessible outside Europe. Glad it worked out for you!
