Someone posted on the Cinemek forum about a 4 camera test in Salt Lake City where reps from each of the four companies were there! (At least I think it was in SLC. That's what his "location" is). He posted his thoughts at this link:

Here's his take on resolution of the HVX:
"I thought Panasonic's weakness would be it's fixed lens, but it actually outperformed the JVC (over 750+ lines of horizontal resolution)."
750+ Really? I hope that is true.
And then there's this statment. I don't really know what it means:
"The variable framerate and 60p progressive was a blast to play with! The rep mentioned that the luminance (no chroma) is upsampled to 1920x1080 to improve resolution before compression to DVCproHD. "
Don't know if those two statements are linked, but I didn't understand what he was talking about in the 2nd sentance.
Then there's this on the Canon:
"Canon's optics, of course, blew everyone away...with over a stop and a half of lower light performance (even with more pixel count than the other cameras) and more horizontal resolution than the Panasonic (800+, the theoretical limit for HD, I was told!)"
More than a stop and half lower light performace? That wasn't the same as what we've been hearing about the shoot-out, is it?
And what's the deal with this "theoretical limit for HD"?
Anyway, thought I'd pass it along because this "shoot-out" review reads a lot different than the ones we've been reading. Can things really vary this much from shoot out to shoot out?
