I was on a 4-camera shoot this last weekend, and one of the guys had ordered a camera specifically for this shoot. Got a brand-spanking-new DVX100A, fed-ex'd in just in time for him to drive to the shoot.
It was gorgeous. It was shiny new. The hour meter said "0 hours." It came in the box with all the proper stuff.
I asked him where he got it. He said "CCI".
I flinched. I mean, CCI is one of the lowest-rated stores ever one ResellerRatings, with a lifetime rating of 0.14. They are one of the stores that is most frequently recommended to avoid.
I said "what'd it cost?" He said $2999, plus $200 shipping (for overnight fed-ex). Unbelievable. And it actually showed up! And it wasn't a repackaged used-return, or gray-market!
I told him he was luckier than anyone I'd ever heard of, and he knew it. He said he called some of the other stores, and the same guy answered the phone. Like, he called Broadway and talked to a guy, then he called Digital Liquidators and the same guy answered the phone. And denied that he was the same guy, of course.
Anyway, he put the 100A on his Amex assuming that it'd protect him in case of fraud. I still can't believe he bet on such a low-rated seller and won. I guess every once in a while they do deliver. Maybe it's like in poker, where you let the new guy win a hand or two before zinging 'em...

I email safer seas a request for a quote for about $7k of new equipment and never got a response. So I assumed they weren't interested in getting my money. The only red flag to me was their site listed cash only prices. I will spend my money some where else. Their site was pretty infomative though for a newbie.
