you can turn on a center market in spot mode.. but what i usually do is put one of those pda protective sheets on the LCD (they help reduce glare as well) and use a sharpie marker to mark off center and safe zones.
that means that if shooting for a free of overscan purpose some undesire element which doesnt the lcd doesnt show may appear (f.e.: a boom!! or the hair of a script girl on a tight room!)
In some informal testing, it appears that the LCD screen, while not showing the full frame, does give you a guide as to what would be in the frame. There's a groove around the LCD screen, and in my testing, that grooved area seems to exactly correspond to what the full frame would be.
How much (how wide (cm and mm ) on each border) paint you with the sharpie mark on the Pany's LCD?
thanks

psd: anyh oy you guys know of some bradcast system on any land that wouldn't need to concider the safe mode and automatically add a black border to avoid cropping the picture on each kind of receptor? I guess that that with safe zone doesnt aply so much if one is watching tv on a projector....i guess that safe zone just applies to TV units...but i am not sure..... :
