Sachtler tripod HDSLR problems

Hi,

I work at an equipment rental house at my university and we are having issues with our Sachtler FSB4 tripod heads. There is a little collar around the mounting screw which fits on video cameras with the extra pin hole but not on any of our Canon series HDSLR's. Therefore one must remove the Collar before shooting with such a camera and then these are often lost, when the collar is removed it also makes it more likely that the screw will be lost as well.

We also have Manfrotto 501 head tripods which have this great solution this small rubber stopper to keep the screw attached.

I'm wondering if someone has found a best of both worlds approach solution to this?

Thanks for any input.

Also - that longer Manfrotto plate now comes with the rubber stopper You may have an older model... I have several with the rubber thing.

Just to clarify The plate on the left is Manfrotto, the one to the right is the Sachtler that we are trying to find a solution for.

Thanks for the suggestion Matthiew77, I have been looking for the right diameter circlip, I think that's our best bet.
