Sachtler Artemis stablizer?

Looks like a more expensive Merlin, and in stock at B&H, but I can't find any reviews of it. Any thoughts on this one?

Bigger, Heavier. Works, but not as well. I way prefer the Merlin.

In general Sachtler, thoguh they have veyr high quality stuff, seem to have sligthly missed "something" with their range of stabilizers. I can't quite put my finger on it, but they just didn't work quite right when I tried them at IBC.

They make the best Tripods, Heads, and Pedestals available. (My fave to work with.) Why they decided to make their own copy of the Steadicam I do not know.

I think Sachtler's came first...anyway, I've seen marketing materials and articles dated 2004. It actually was introduced in 2003, I believe.

What appeals to me is the quality...from the photos, it looks like it could survive a bomb blast. I guess that's why it's heavier. Mikko, did you try the miniDV Artemis that looks like the Merlin? They have others that are more expensive and look more like the Flyer.

Deal killer: No quick release unless you have a Sachtler tripod. You'd have to remount and adjust camera each time.

Yes pDog I did see your response here. I found you had a good last word and I had nothgin more to coment to this thread unless new questions came up.

However I will say: Steadicam came first.
