S-video out in HD mode

I will be on a shoot where the director is bringing his own monitor. It's an SD monitor with S-video in. It's 4:3. Can I simply run the s-video out of the HVX while in 720/24pN and have it showing up correctly in the SD 4:3 monitor? Or will be is squished and not in the correct ratio. Or scaled up or something like that?

It should work but it will be squished unless the SD 4x3 monitor has some provision to view the 16x9 inside of black bars.

The camera does send a signal telling the display that it is using a 16:9 frame. I hooked the S-Video output to my widescreen, and it automatically filled the screen properly. Most 4:3 TVs won't know to letterbox, though.

As mentioned...what kind of montior?

If he has a later model Sony 8" there is usually a switch in the front or the rear for 16x9 viewing...pending the model.
