s-video cables

I needed an S-video cable, discovered I had one from ATI and looked it up online. It's listed as "S-video cable for Mac2TV or PC2TV". Is that just their branding? It looks like a generic cable to me, that could be used for any S-video connection.

Re: s-video cables

Unless ATI has a propriotary pinout for their svideo output, then it's just a standard s-video 4 pin cable.

Re: s-video cables

There are 4 pins at each end. How would I determine whether there's anything proprietary about it?

Re: s-video cables

Just try a generic cable (pull one off your DVD player or something)

Odds are 99.9999999% it will work

Re: s-video cables

Actually, B&H sells this ATI cable for 10 bucks. After saying it's for ATI cards, description says the cable can also be used to connect any two S-video devices. So...generic!

Re: s-video cables

Soliton: thanks! That's the definite answer I was hoping for. Looks like a good quality cable, too.
