OMG! S.O.S. May day May day! Right in the middle of a commerical shoot my camera went on a BLINK! It displays a blue screen saying... "AUTO OFF" "CYLINDER LOCK" and "UNLOADING LOCK"! Its Keeps flashing and I cant even turn it off. I cant even eject the tape! I cant even DO anything at all! Wats happening?

Re: S.O.S. camera f@ck'd! PLEASE HELP!

I had that happen to me before. I sent it to get fixed, and when they got it, they said it was fine. I'm guessing that it got dirty or something, and somehow the dirt got removed before it got to them. They did a cleaning of it, just in case, and now its fine. However I have another camera, which now has problems with recording. Sometimes it will say its recording but the timecode doesn't move, and there's a weird asterix next to it. I asked Rush at EVS, and he said hadn't seen it before. So if anyone knows how to fix that problem that would help alot.

Re: S.O.S. camera f@ck'd! PLEASE HELP!

were you close to the end of your tape when you got this message? I got the same message about 3 weeks ago on a shoot but I was running out of tape! I ejected that tape then put in a new one. Turned the camera off and then on again and the message went away and I went back to shooting.

There is also a small reset button next to the shutter controls.

Re: S.O.S. camera f@ck'd! PLEASE HELP!

That is what I had suggested at the store, Dennis, did you try that yet? ???

Re: S.O.S. camera f@ck'd! PLEASE HELP!

I was only 7 minutes into the tape. Ive tried pressing the reset and reset in the menu but doesnt work! Its like the camera is frozen! I took it to Commerical electronics... The camera is still under warrenty! They are going to let me know wats the problem. The guy said that if its bad news... I loose my camera for 3 weeks! Cause they have to ship it to toronto to fix it!

EEEEEEK! i feel naked without it! :'(

Re: S.O.S. camera f@ck'd! PLEASE HELP!

Hey Dennis, I think it's time to bring it back to us for exchange, don't cha think? ;) It's still under 14 days, so you are cool.

We should be getting more DVX's in about 10 days, so you can use it until then or I can hold it, whatever you like... Email me and let me know.

Thanks Rush. It's really strange that no one else has had a similar problem. BTW the DSR-11 is working great. :)

Re: S.O.S. camera f@ck'd! PLEASE HELP!

just curious, are the camera problems posted here and elsewhere on this site about average for most cameras? I realize no product is perfect, but it seems that people are having serious problems with the dvx.

Remember - People that have problems post about them in order to get help. People that have perfectly working cameras usually do not post about them. It's a very common misconception to assume there is a high rate of problems due to these types of posts. But I certainly understand your concerns.

For the record, my DVX is working great. Knock on wood.

Out of the 2,000+ members of dvxuser, we've seen reports from just a few people. That's a pretty tiny percentage. I've had my DVX for over a year, 180 hours on the head, no issues whatsoever, and I think that experience is quite common here. I don't think there's any sort of quality issue with the DVX.
