RX100 mk IV video from NYC

Well done. Simple and elegant. As I walk by these locations regularly, this work offers a distinct gift - a way to see ordinary life - at least ordinary for New Yorkers - as if seeing it for the first time. The Lincoln Center shot brought to mind the well-known shot from the Resnais film 'Last Year at Marienbad'. Very different shot for sure, but nonetheless, within the context of this work's 'seeing' - it brought it readily to mind.

Also reminded me of the essential importance of a MILC or DSLR with good quality video for shooting on the streets of New York. People are so accustomed to photo cameras, they generally ignore them. A few months ago, some friends and I were messing around shooting experimental stuff with an old Panasonic HVX200 at Union Square. The form factor drew a lot of unwanted attention.

RX100 mkIV seems very well suited for this type of shooting.

Nice work.

Thanks so much, that's exactly the feel I was going for, so it's nice to know it came across. The ability to take decent movies with a pocket camera definitely opens possibilities, and I'm still trying to find ways to explore that. It will never replace the silky feel of an Alexa, but hopefully I'll get shots I never would have been able to with a bigger camera. thanks again for the feedback..

Jem, that is a beautiful little film, well done. Did you use s-log or just cook in the standard picture profiles?

jem-you put the camera is just so many lovely spots.

a real eye you have.

and your edit thoughts worked very well.

lastly, the little sony rx100mk4 did you right.

good for you. i hope you are pleased.

if i may also ask, did you shoot sony's slog?

Hi Rob, thanks so much! to answer your question, I didn't use Sony's slog, as a matter of fact, all of the clips were shot in the "Program" mode with auto white balance. This did lead to some interesting color problems on a couple of clips, but in general I think it does a great job and tremendously simplifies things when walking down the street and pulling the camera out of the bag to shoot. I do love having this camera when I want to be unencumbered, but I love the picture I get from the A7rii, so I often just bite the bullet and carry a big bag. Thanks again..
