The producer didn't want 24p cause he was shooting with a pd150 so this was a compromise.
I just put a bit of the clip up to sample the footage. I had no control over the audio..just ambient from the on camera mic. Just wanted peolple to see what it looked like.
I just worked with a producer shooting for a documentary about Ruth Brown -- she's from our area (Portsmouth VA) and performed last week at a historical theater in Norfolk.
Anyway -- I think we might have been working with the same producer, Don Ogden (based outta LA) -- cuz he brought along his own pd150 that he's been using -- and wanted us to use ours to match his. We ended up shooting the performance with a couple of pd150's and a couple of JVC dv500's. I'll shoot some b-roll footage for him with my personal DVX.
small world -- and yes the woman can still sing -- after all Atlantic Records is known as the house that Ruth built -- and Ray Charles was Ruth's first pianist. cool !
I agree wtf ? pd150 ? I wish he would've had the $$ to rent out our HD camera ... but it don't matta - content is king.
I haven't shoot in 30p with my dvx yet but after seeing this footage I think I'm gonna do it more often.
love the colors and cadence even in 30p looks filmic
