Rushmore

Tried searching for a thread and, surprisingly, the closest I could find was just general Wes Anderson discussion.

I watched this film maybe 5 or so years ago and thought it was decent, but nothing amazing. Finally got around to seeing it again tonight.

Now, I must admit to being a big Anderson film. The only one I didn't love was Life Aquatic, and even that wasn't bad, just not on the level of his other films imo.

Rushmore, however, GREAT film. Just loved the whole thing through and through. I've always loved Robert Yeoman's photography in the films, and this one is no exception.

There's nothing in particular I wanted to say about the film (although the whole sequence of back and forth revenge between Bill Murray and Jason Shwartzman is pure gold), just really loved it and wanted to hear some other folks voice their opinions on the movie.

I really didn't like it when I saw it in theaters.

Or, at least, that's what I thought at the time. I love it now.

i really liked this movie. i saw it last year for the first time.

the two lead characters and actors really made the movie.

you should watch the life aquatic again :>

I know.

I did watch it a second time in the last year or so, and I did like it much more than the first time through. Like I said before, it's not a bad movie. I definitely don't hate it, I just would rather watch any of his other films again before that one. Still haven't seen Bottle Rocket though...

This one grows on you. I remember not really being wowed by it first time around, not like Tenenbaums, but it got better on second viewing.

Best Wes Anderson film.

I like all his work, but I think Rushmore has the most likeable characters, and plenty of humor to go along with the trademark quirk.

Probably one of my top ten fav films.

Love the movie. My favorite Wes Anderson film. The style and the fanciful art direction seemed to be an extension of the character and how he saw the world. From Tenenbaums on, the style and art direction seemed more like a fetish that came from the filmmakers obsession rather than from the characters and the story, which is why my opinion of his work diminished with each film until Fantastic Mr. Fox.

It never fails to surprise me how much people's opinions of Wes Anderson's films vary. Although a lot of people seem to dislike The Life Aquatic, which is my second favorite, after Tenenbaums. All the rest switch places often, depending on my mood. Oh and those who haven't seen Bottle Rocket should do themselves a favor and see it. I really love all of Wes' (we're totally friends who call each other by our first names) films for different reasons I suppose. I also find it interesting that you can never really discuss individual Wes Anderson films without it turning into a discussion of his entire body of work, which I think it great. It just means he's a filmmaker with a specific voice and vision. I first saw Rushmore when I was the exact same age as Max Fischer: 15. Even if it's not my favorite anymore, it still has a special meaning to me, as all of his films do.
