Instant Review:
HPX 200 on steroids.
Killer viewfinder, no focus issues what so ever. Turn peeking up a bit, no need for focus bar or focus assist. True bars.
Very smooth zoom.
Great balance.
True manual focus.
The EX3 is a total ergonomic nightmare compared to the 300.
No image tests yet. But camera is way faster than my 200 (not sure about 200A)
This is a real camera, not a toy.
Menus really easy to use.
Time code much easier
Playback much easier.
How can you beat the 7K price point? 1300 dollars less than the EX3. 8000 dollars less than a HPX 500 w mid range Fujinon.
No images yet.
Noise seems less than the 200.
Camera has not seen the light of day, more to follow.

I think he's just sharing his initial impressions of the camera. And from the sounds of it...he likes it.

I would have to second your opinion exponentially. Sold my Ex3 for the reason stated above (ergonomic nightmare) and replaced it with a new Hpx 300 and Panasonic's expensive yet extremely fast 5 card P2 reader. No longer do I require a series of weighty add-ons to make the Ex3 just barely hand holdable or a $2800 external device to improve upon its codec. No, the 300 does, right out of the box what the Ex3 should have done but can never achieve, due to its absurd form factor, no matter how many shoulder mounts or costly, additional doodads you buy . Now, along with my Hpx 170, I have what for my purposes represents the perfect system.

James,

I concur 100%, my same impressions when I first used it in March. It's a real camera, not a prosumer camera.

Hope that you enjoy it!

Dan
