Rumors circulating about FCS3 native support of h.264...

Given how tight mouthed Apple is and the NDAs it requires, I would take any of these rumors with a grain of salt and bottle of beer.

FCS3 will depend on 10.6... count on it.... it will allow them to make significant advancements, even though most will complain about needing to upgrade to a new OS to work

Over 2 years since the last release - wow. If Apple doesn't do something soon the new rumors will be about selling off FCP or discontinuing development (EOL). The latter is highly unlikely of course.

I think it will be optimized for 10.6, not necessarily dependent on it... but I'd guess that you'll want 10.6 for best performance.

Well you eat the worm if the release has bugs- right?

-Noah

Now Noah, you know Apple has no bugs, just undocumented features that have not yet been optimized for the users pleasure...

I have a chart around here somewhere on how to put together an Apple rumor. It's got lists and you pick one from column A and one from B etc. As silly as it is it's surprising how close they can be to "verified" rumors.

Well since were in rumor deep water the big rumor on 10.6 is that it will be Intel only. If that is true then you must be wrong. Apple makes strange decisions now and again but FCS2 ran (sort of) on G4's, I would be dumfounded if Apple cut G5's out of the compatibility loop.

Does adding 10.6 to the mix mean we can add lime to the game? Salt, lime and tequila with a beer chaser... Ahhhhh what wer we talking about?

All of the developer previews up to this point for 10.6 have been Intel only.. I think it would be surprising if Snow Leopard worked for PPC. Apple hasn't sold PPCs for over three years now and they announced the switch 4 years ago--so I wouldn't expect a brand new version of the operating system to support 3+ year old computers.

The benefits of Snow Leopard are largely under the hood--most of the benefits for this upgrade will be seen in the newer macs that include the upgraded graphics processors.
