Rumored nikon d90 buffer upgrade

that AE Lock also locks the compression settings (JPEG Blur) depending on the image complexity (and light as editman said)

But if this theory is right my camera would have had locked the blur setting to zero blurring prior to shooting the forest.

I locked exposure when the lens was focused to infinity and at the same time had a white balance cap (diffusive piece of transparent plastic) in front if it. Since the light was very even and also almost middle gray the bitrate must have been very low. (Pictures containg only middle gray (value 128) will be stored as only zeros in JPEGS).

If the data rate was low the CPU would have removed any blurring, according to your theory, right?

After locking I removed the white balance cap and shot the forest picture you have seen.

But my forest picture is blurry, so, how could the blur setting had been locked to zero?

I don't know the parameters for the D90 to set its compression at AE Lock, maybe an even light makes the processor to set the filming at a lower bitrate, maybe less then 15~10 mbps and blur everything above it, this video feature isnt professional, so anything in this regard is possible
