(rumored) Canon Full Frame Mirrorless leaked pics

That crop is ridiculous and uncalled for and only one card slot, no IBS. If Panasonic FF provides all the current features in the GH5 along with a great autofocus and reasonably priced lens system, I am going to sell my Canon equipment and never look back. I do videography and photography and FF is important to me.

Canon Rumors has some specs up. For video; 4K up to only 30fps (not seeing HD speeds, presuming tops out at 120fps), 10-bit HDMI out (still 8-bit internally probably), Canon Log. $2,299 for the body.

For $1,500.00, this would be an exciting camera. For $2,300.00, not so much. The cropped 4K basically negates any excitement about FF video. It's a FF stills camera that shoots weird, cropped video. Usable but not compelling to switch from a 5D MKIV, right? They both have the cropped video.

Nothing new under the Sun, Canon and Nikon think DSLRs and Mirrorless cameras are photo cameras that do a bit of video on the side.

The 1080p is full frame. That suits quite a few people, myself included. C-log, 10bit and ND filter has piqued my interest.... Though i'm hoping for something special from Fuji tomorrow.

If this camera would do 4K in fullframe which my 1DXII can't, then I will be mighty pissed. 1080p is what lot of people shoot.

Canon is testing the waters. I has decided that the lowend bleed needs to be stopped. Vloggers etc buy a bulk of these cameras. Still photographers shooting video a bit is the target. So the DPAF is there which will ensure that whoever uses this camera gets better focused shots than other guys. They have a full fledged plan. Wait for future cameras.

the 10bit on the tiny micro hdmi port is just bad, yeah its good.
but after some use over time, the port just losing up lead to interrupt connection mid shooting, etc... very frustrating.

Yea, in 4K like the other cameras (although the 1DX Mark II has a 1.3x crop).

Canon will just never get it...really had an opportunity here.

I am starting to hate this company.

yea the true is many poeple still shoot 1080 include my self, but if you want to have a very high quality and sharp 1080 is downres 4k to 1080.

Um not with that crop factor and the lack of wide lenses in the FF format that will work with the camera.

Also heard this is the camera for Panasonic to beat. LOL. Dream on. That crop factor for 4k video and the lack of internal 10bit are an absolute show stopper for anybody serious about film making. In a day and age where the 10bit 400mbps 4:2:2 from the GH5 gets criticized and compared to the Pocket 4k raw and ProRes422 anything less than 100% top broadcast specs is out of the race entirely.

If Panasonic doesn't muck up their FF camera and carries over every feature from the GH5 and GH5s that is the camera to beat outside of BMD if one absolutely needs raw or ProRes out of the box. Even without the FF version the GH5s with a SpeedBooster XL is very close to the crop factor of FF when shooting 4k video. That is vastly wider FOV and has better DOF control than the 1.7x crop factor of the Canon.

It doesn't come close at all to real full-frame 4K like from an a7III, but it helps...and at that point, most have all of the DOF they would want.

Yeah but the A7III is crippled with 8bit only. Great cameras but I can no longer consider any camera if it doesn't have at least 10bit 4:2:2.

GH5s with a SpeedBooster XL has a 1.2x crop factor which is between a 1x crop and a 1.5x crop of APS-C with it being a tiny bit closer to the FF crop of 1x. I wouldn't call that a huge difference in DOF and I think is about 1/2 a stop of DOF difference which is not huge at all. But yes the a7III has more but at that point who cares. Due to the 1 stop aperture gain on the SpeedBooster it should be easier to compensate for the 1/2 stop of DOF by opening up the lens 1/2 a stop compared to a FF lens on the Sony.

On occasion Engadget will accept travel and lodging from manufacturers to test products not yet available locally for review. In this case, Canon had a single North American and European launch in Maui.

over compensating much canon? Makes sense for a single North American/Asian launch, but east coast would otherwise seem to make a lot more sense.

Anyway the camera looks "fine" - just sort of the expected status quo for photos. Not even a remote contender for video IMO. I don't see how this is going to do much to rock Sony other than the Canon brand name,

I'll look forward to the 9/25 Panasonic event. As others have said, if they pull out the GH5 of Full Frame Mirrorless cameras, they may have a serious hit on their hands.

With 10-24mm (17-41mm w/1.7x crop in 4K) Tamron compared to GH5 with 7-14mm (14-28mm w/2x crop in 4K).

They do because of the crop factor.

However - on a side note - Canon's EF-S APS-C lenses weren't compatible in the past even with the crop on cameras like a 5D Mark IV because they would hit the mirror (it's how they are designed).

Any other APS-C lens like a Sigma 18-35mm is good to go.

(The 1DX Mark II mostly needs FF lenses...at least on the wider side.)

In the case above, I don't think it matters anymore with EF-S lenses because of the adapter as long as they can cover the crop, which most should.

Thats a APS-C lens. Do those work with 4k video on a FF camera?

The 17-120 works on a 5D mkIV in 4K. Think it'll work on the new R? ; )
