Rumor: Sony A7s will have 4K video

I think that would be Large Scale Integration, which in this context just means signal processor (the part that gets the data from the sensor and encodes it)

Well if you of all people aren't 100% sure, then I don't feel like such a moron...lol.

Thanks for the explanation, I would imagine you are correct.

No, No, this is quite wrong.
LSI stands for Large Sausage Imager.
As you well know, it is simply impossible to compute and store all the data from 4k without the power of sausages. This is why the GH4 has 4k internally, because it's DSLR form factor gives it the room to mount a large pork banger.
The a7s only has enough room for a chipolata which can handle HD but doesn't have the sausage power for 4k.
However the new Atomos shogun will have a huge built in bratwurst so will be well equipped to deal with the input.
Hope this helps.

Reminds me of the days in high school chemistry class, where STP according to the professor was Standard Temperature and Pressure. But to my friend James, it was obviously Stone Temple Pilots

Guys who must have 4k have sausage size issues

OK so it's not going to be cheap but I think it's going to be pretty amazing. I'm going to pick one up for testing vs the 5D MK3 raw for potential use in my film. I need to see the difference in the final graded shots.

My sides! best explanation I've seen yet.

Technically, LSI (large scale integration) is what we had in the 1970s. It meant putting ever larger digital circuits on a single chip, so that a single LSI chip could provide the same functionality of many pre-LSI chips. In the 1980s we had VLSI (very large scale integration). Whatever we have today is far far beyond LSI, and anyone who uses the term is at best seriously out-of-date.

Indeed.
Internally recorded 4K for $1,699, or no internally recorded 4K for twice that.
Hmmm... (strolling toward the Panasonic booth)
Except one of those options is attached a m43 sensor, while the other is a 35mm sensor that's likely to be clean to 100K ISO, it's not really fair to compare them on recording capabilites alone.

Nothing wrong with an M43 sensor.
I have a feeling that shooting to ISO 100K is going to be a niche feature for most users and a speedbooster gives you an S35 size sensor in the GH. I think its dangerous for Sony to price it twice as much as a competing camera with a more complete feature set.

While low light is neat, at a certain point you've gotta shape the light too.

I remember the endless discussions about the Nikon D800E, and more recently the Zeiss 55mm Otus APO lens. I just knew they were going to be game-changers, at least for me.

These were great achievements with endless discussion, mostly by those who never tried them. My hunch is that the A7s is going to be a very great camera for those of us who are into video.
