I didn't know that. Could be. But also buttons and the whole form factor wasn't ideal. I'm sure the bigger GH3/4 body (or any bigger body) will always offer better ergonomics.

If it's a bundle they might include a lens? Maybe the video zoom lens they are developing? Then the price would be reasonable.

Looks like $3,450 for the A7s !

The world’s first store accepting preorders and unveiling the price of the new Sony A7s is WexUK (Click here). But asked via Twitter they also said that the price “is given to us by Sony, but it may change between now and the release date“. For comparison: WexUk sells the A7r for 1669 pounds! The A7s costs exactly $50 more! Based on the current A7r Amazon pricing the A7s could cost around $3,450! That would be higher than expected. I hope Sony will read your comments so that they will lower the price

That is not an indicator at all. Based on Amazon pricing ? "Could cost"? That article is just fire starting at best. So they sell the A7r for 1669, which is currently $2,800 american. In the USA, you can get an A7r for $2,300. I don't think you can really translate from UK pricing to American, where things are typically less. I have a feeling this is no real indicator of exact pricing. Really just speculation that will surely cause a fire... better to wait and just found out for reals.

The A7s could be priced high, who knows, but this is not enough to really go off of.

It's a rumor site, just like the other day when the A7s was rumored to have internal 4K?

Not the offical price, I am going to guess the actual is closer to $2500.
 
The twitter account of the UK store says the price was given by Sony. Pound conversion to US dollars puts it over 4K.
 
Since the price is out the I can confirm I was given the same price of £2500 by another dealer in the UK. IMHO that's too much coin for what it offers.

if you rig it out to be a professional acquisition tool you won't be far off a real camera like a secondhand FS700.

It'll also have sell in a world with a GH4 and I'm not sure how much of a draw FF and high ISO is? You could also buy the 10 bit recorder and the GH4 for a similar price as the A7s.
 
Admittedly the image, from what I've seen... matches the price tag HOWEVER the feature-set? Not so sure...
 
When the guy from Atomos said it would be available in a kit with the Shogun for under $5,000 I figured it would retail for around $3,000 (the Shogun is supposed to be around $2,000).
 
Looks quite good,This guy says the ISO 80000 on the A7s looks better then the 5dmk3 at ISO 6400 .

$2000 is my limit on this. Anything over and its waiting for next year releases. GH4 from what I've seen does nothing for me. I've got a bunch of small chip cameras. I want full frame but not for this price and feature set. Maybe its gonna take one more year for this to sort itself out.
 
DON'T USE AN EXCHANGE RATE CALCULATOR TO TRANSLATE CAMERA PRICES
it only works for Arri, everything else is a lot more expensive in Europe

plus: the first seller to offer a camera hardly ever charges the normal price (the A6000 was going for >$1K on ebay just a week ago)

but yes, this doesn't bode well: it's looking like atomos were the ones who got it right, and it's around $3K
 
Don't forget UK price does include the dreaded VAT at 20%. So allow for that in you conversion.

without VAT it'll be £2083 or $3495.
 
I think all these speculative prices are bollocks. The a7r is £1700 at the relatively expensive jessops in the uk. The a7s shouldn't be more than that.

Nirv, nice to know your on here again. I will be finished with my Bachelor's in Digital Film in about 6 mo and I'm using your settings
for the FS100 on my final project, two pilot episodes we are shooting for a TV comedy sitecome. They are still my favorites of all the
ones I've used. I've been looking closely at this A7s looks to be a very nice camera depending on the price.

They must be expecting to sell very few of these. Looks like it's gonna be geared to a different market than the GH4, more of a 5K for 4K deal with the A7s.
