Near FF in 4k? You're going to need at least a 7inch monitor to nail the focus.

NO one is talking about the astersik on the Sony site saying that on 1080p you get all the photosites read by the procesor BUT ONLY *1 When used in 24p/30p(25p) movie setting.
So is 60p going to look like poop then?
That's what these naysayers need to listen with such high ISOs : ) It seems to me DSLRs never have been more alive than now, after all ;-) It looks like it is the video form factor to have trouble to see the light today : D Where's the AF200, above all? Did they change the name to YAGH?! So cruel these engineers are nowadaysIf it's bothering you, set it to f/11 and push up the ISO. Problem solved.

The addition of a 7" external 4K recorder negates the small size of these cams, and if you really want that kind of rig, well now you have the BM Ursa and AJA 4K cam available later this year.

BTW: by the pixel count they cite, I think the EVF is 1024x576, with RGBW
mmm... at least not as good as 24p/30p
@Cory Braun:
I see: you perceive the A7s mainly as a 4K FF camera, to be used with the Shogun. I think of it as a FF camera that will give me clean and sharp 1080p with lots of DR and a strong codec. There's a sizeable chance that I'll never shoot 4K with it.
Different people, different needs... same camera!!
@macgregor:
Thinking a bit more about it, I'm also intrigued by the APS-C mode.
FF mode is 1:1 for 4K and 2:1 for 1080p, with 1.1x crop. That's an easy way to get a clean and sharp image.
APS-C is around 1.5:2 for 4K (weird) and 1.5:1 for 1080p. That's not nearly as easy to debayer, and the image will probably not be as sharp. On the plus side, it should have a lot less rolling shutter issues. But I want sharp.
If I had designed this camera, the crop mode would go to 2x, for a 1:1 1080p image. Sharp and easy, and gives you even more reach and less RS, which would be my reasons to switch to crop mode. If the sensor can output 4K at 30p, then it can output 1080p from this 2x crop at 60p.
Why this is related to your comment about line-skipping above 30p: if the APS-C image is sharp, maybe that's what you want to use for higher fps, because line-skipping can start at a higher fps (or maybe not; we'll see).
Ah, details, details...
And a very important one is still missing: PRICE!!
Let me recall Roger's Law of New Product Introduction:

OK. Pretty reasonable.Nope, that's not my perception at all. Was just referring to the people complaining about needing a 7 inch monitor to record 4k. My point was that if you want to record 4k, having a 7inch monitor is not a bad thing. That's all.
I think Cherry Blossom was shot with strict direction from Sony: "we want a clip that sells TVs, not cameras; we want stationary shots that look really, really sharp; we're going to loop this on our 4K TVs over and over"
Cherry blossom didn't blow me away but Scotland did
I didn't know there was other footage. I'll take a look at the Scotland stuff. I assume its on the A7s official Sony page?
