Rumor of new lenses for AGAF100

I concur fully.

Some people who parrot the "P2" line, are living in the past. Sure, once upon a time, P2 had its place, but reliability on card media has gone up, and people haven't taken notice as yet. It's like when the Japanese were selling cheapo poor quality cars here in the early 70's, but eventually caught up (and surpassed), but some people got stuck forever in the "rice burner" loop.

Now, granted, reliability is just one metric, but given the exorbitant cost of P2, I find other advantages easy to give up for the affordable price of cards.

Technology marches on. Yeah, SCSI drives were the bomb once upon a time, but that time has passed. Time to wake up, a new day is here. Technology is doing what it's always done: always getting cheaper and better, even if not always at the same time.

Keep the price low and quality high, and you won't go wrong, Panny.

I agree with the fact that a CF card is reliable, cheap and usable. Me too use CF card with my digital SRL and never had an issue. I'm more concerned with codec: hope to see an AF100 with AVC-Intra like HPX370 and if the data will be stored on cheap CF like RED does, why not...
Anyway, P2 is the best, most reliable, rugged media out there. Don't forget is a stripped RAID array. Said that, this topic is about lens.

I shot 320 hours using 5 16 gig Transcend and 1 16 gig Panasonic. I shot in Extreme heat of the Caribbean, day after day and backed up to a Nexto. I NEVER had a problem or lost so much as a frame and it was 1080p all the way except for a few fast action surf and board sailing sequences.
I totally agree with my old buddy Justyn (honourary Montrealer) P2 cost more don't need 'em. My Class 6 Transcends freakin' rock and I am sure my Class 10's will too.
Oh yeh, shot about 50 hours on the GH1 on Trancends too...
I had Transcend fail me 2 times (of course in the most critical moments, shots can't be redone) in a span of 6 months. I have never had P2 or SxS fail one time.

The AF 100 is supposed to have 2 sd card slots, if they make it so you can record to both slots at the same time the redundacy would eliminate the possiblility of total card failure.

I've shot probably about a 2000 hours worth of content on SD cards over the years with yet a single issue due to reliability and performence. Not withstanding P2 is a rugged bugger, but if you handle the SD cards well and I keep mine in a metal case the whole time, they work really well. I had P2 and for all its wonders, the offloading and limited run times are a total bummer. I recently shot 17 hours of content without backing up a single card till I was good and done... I would shudder to pay the price in equivilent P2 cards.... If the cards were a true deal breaker, I'm sure that Panasonic wouldn't be going ahead with them.

While I've been a big defender of SD/CF cards against unjust attacks, it is true that P2 is better in certain ways. However, in the long run, victory belongs to smaller and cheaper storage formats (SD etc.). That said, I must second Bucknfl (and I've also said this months ago on the original af-100 thread) - it would be awesome if the af-100 dual slots allowed simultaneous recording on both for the extra security of redundancy. If they do that, it would remove a huge part of the reason to have to go to P2. Because awesome as P2 is, it has limitations - not only cost, but storage capacity and size. SD is destined to rule, and that can be helped a lot by going the dual way.... hope Panny is listening :)
