RoweCine Dolly kits now for sale!

imari,
as specific to the rowe cine kits discussed in this thread, they come with screw in track connectors for 1" PVC track. essentially galvanized steel pipe couplers. the dolly kits also come with instructions as to how to use them to connect the track. its fairly simple. one half screws into one section of track and the other half into the other section and you tighten it together.

hey. I tried to d/l the demo you have Rowe, but it says the link isn't there. anyone have any footage of this badboy in action?

..yeah the footage has been down for a while now. afte the weekend i might get a sec to find it and throw it back up.

i think its on the way. not sure. everyones real name is generally different then their sign in. ..i was thinking of upgrading all christmas time orders.. to candycane status or something. a free candycane and box of "peeps" with every order. but then my wife brought home some peeps and i ate a couple and nearly threw up right then.. so i figured i didnt want to get sued for someone getting food poisening or anything. so ..i'm trying to think of some other small gesture of the season to spice up things. perhaps some snow in every box?

Stickers are cool. I'd be happy and proud to put a Rowe Cine sticker on my dolly base. Or maybe some extra lubricant for the wheels (if they need it ever). Anything is better than nothing (except peeps, cuz they are damn gross).

..i dont mind stickers on some stuff, but dollys get stepped on and beat on by heavy equipment so i ruled out stickers because they would just get chewed up.. unless they were on the bottom of the platform.. where nobody on the set sees it. but ive come up with another idea instead of stickers thats pretty neat and usefull too. i think it'll work great but i have to test it out to be sure first. ..which means i need to find some more time in the middle of the holiday season to play with.

..im pretty sure i know which order is yours, but any way you slice it all weekend orders are going out tues morning (12-6-05). weve had alot of 1' rail orders lately and we dont keep advance stock of those normally since most orders are the full length 4' rails for doorway size dollies. plus we dont work on the weekends too much. :) should be there before the weekend though.

K, BIG notice here. the order page will hopefully be updated asap when jarred is back in town...

Holiday Special Days! any order placed from now until Dec 31st 2005 will be upgraded with 2 extra wheels per corner. That's right! order a 16 wheel kit and you'll get 24.. order a 24 wheel kit and you'll get 32. .. order the 32 wheel kit and yep youll even get 40 wheels! (40 wheels only available on 4' rails) ALL orders placed during this holiday special period will NOT be shipped until after Jan 7th. We are out for the holidays and are giving a little back to you in exange for the short delay in shipping. have a fun and safe holiday season, and happy shooting!

any chance the t-bar system would be ready by january 7th?

and if not, is there any downfall in buying it after i have assembled my dolly?

also, what configuration seems to be the most popular that you sell. I'm still a bit uncertain what length rails and how many wheels to purchase.

thanks!

..the plans for the handle system are pretty finalized, but the startup cost for the product is still sort of ominous right now for the business to take a hit for. pending how another one of our projects goes well put the money in one place or the other. so in plain enlgish, I really dont have an answer for you at this time. but it's only going to be a little less if purchased with a dolly unit. not really worth waiting for if you need a dolly asap.

I would reccommend the 4' rails with a 24 wheel setup if your having trouble figuring what would be good for you. its great for all around use with a standard doorway dolly setup, and right now, youll get the upgrade to 32 wheels :) .

Just wanted to let you know we are shooting a feature on your wheels with 2 VariCams...your wheels ROCK man!!

smooth as glass on real cine track!

nice! i expect great things coming off any shoot your working obin. your work speaks for itself and id love to catch some footage when its all wrapped. thanks for the feedback and good luck on the shoot. :)

I've recently set up a movie making club at CERN in Geneva. We'd like to order a set of wheels to make a dolly and would like to know what the deal is with shipping to Switzerland.

Cheers, Quentin

no prob. shipping to Switzerland is the same deal as shipping anywhere else really. shipping is still included in the price. but its just going to ship alot slower. even just going to canada the customs and such delays it to a wekk or more on occasion istead of 2-3 days anywhere in the continental US.

be sure to check out the order page. right now through DEC 31 2005 you get an extra 2 wheels per corner with your order since were not shipping any more units untill after the holidays starting JAN 7th 2006. that meas you order 16 wheels and you get 24.. order 24 and you get 32 ect. happy shooting! and good luck with the movie club.

What have people used as track?
Do you buy something from the local hardware store?

Anyone from the UK bought their track from a B&Q?

Hey Neil,

I just read through this entire post and checked out the order page. I am confused however because I have never owned/operated a dolly.

I hope you can bear with me because I intend to purchase a dolly I just need to understand some things more clearly first.

1) Okay the 1' and 4' rails, assuming a rail is the metal piece which the wheels are attached to, is the picture posted by Jarred on page one of this topic, the 4' rail? Then would the pictures on the ordering page be considered the " Full length (4') rails are be available at an additional $10.00 to cover the extra shipping cost. "

What are 1' rails then? Do they hold only 2 wheels, one on each side? and why would 4' rails then be most useful for doorway sized dollies?

2) Would it be possible to see some more in depth pictures of each assembled unit? The first picture on the ordering page is extremly small and I cannont make out what the pieces looks like. Including what the track connectors look like...do these connectors work with metal and how do they provide a quick setup compared to other connectors for PVC pipe?

Mainly question 1) is what I have problems understanding but I think its is because I dont know dollies well and havent used one before or heard the verbage concerning them. "Available in 4, 6 or 8 offset wheels per corner, in 1' lengths or 4' lengths " This is giving me some trouble. Does that mean that 8 wheels can fit per corner on 1' rails?

Maybe I'm being moronic since I dont understand but it would be nice to see a picture for, 4 wheels in 1' rails, 6 wheels in 1' rails, 8 wheels in 1' rails, 4 wheels in 4' rails, 6 wheels in 4' rails, and 8 wheels in 4' rails to be able and distinguish them from eachother, but perhaps if i just understood it, I could use my imagination =P, but honestly I would like to see a picture of what I am ordering prior to ordering it.

Thanks for any help I hope this is not a nuisance.
