ok guys and gals,

let me do some honest promotion here and let you know whats up with these. what can i say.. Im a DYI guy thats busted my butt building a couple lets just say "less than professional" dollys in my day. I learned the hard way that its not something you want to have skimped on when the shot counts and all eyes are on you and your footage. I didnt want to drop the cash on a brand name doorway dolly that costs more than my car, but i also didnt want to build another blue light special thing that i couldnt versatilely use with confidence.

..so i after much ..and i do mean very "much" ado , I created these. and worked with DVXUser.com to make them available here for others to get a headstart on stepping up their production game. so if you want a nice cinema dolly setup the first time.. thats multi-person rideable, strong and stabile, ultra low profile, super quiet, very smooth, professional in operation and appearance, and easy to build... these are for you. theres no skimping here. just quality you can rely on. with a nice platform they make a mean looking dolly that you'll be comfortable and even proud taking on a pro set or shoot, and will last a very long time assuring you quiet and smooth shots time after time. all the hard work is done for you with laser precision.. just put them on a nice looking platform and your set, and can start being confident about incorporating smooth dolly camera motion in your shots, and looking proffesional doing it.

each sale of Rowe Cine products here at DVXUser also helps support DVXUser.
Now lets make some movies!

heres a FAQ for people considering the Rowe Cine dolly products:

thanks serious,

..plans for curved track? ..well yes, but not really... i mean there in the works, but im not rushed on them for release. overall, i dont think many indy people will use curved track sets. theres really not much money made in these kit sales for whats involved in putting them together. most goes to materials and shiping ect.. , and few enough indy productions have found the production blessings of using even a straght track pro dolly to begin with yet. so while you an i think they might be great to have around. i think theyd see the shelf more than the track for now. if indy producers step up to the plate with some pro straight track cinema dolly wheels, and if theres demand.. the curved track sets will be made available as well.

Hi. Cool product--I want some! I already asked this in another one of your threads, but I don't remember which one. Is it possible to order different-colored wheels instead of the off-white? Maybe, yellow, red, black or gray? Thanks.

well, yes.. it is possible, but the issues are

#1 i dont get discount volume pricing for buying 1 set in a differnt color.
#2 i havent tested the other wheels for consistancy or performance
#3 to my knowledge, the same wheel dimensions and specs are not available in other colors.

.. and while these may be seemingly small issues. its important to me that theres a high level of quality control that goes into the product. the standard wheels were chosen for all their inherant qualities. minus color.. i just went with the color available to get he wheels that orked the best. however. if youd really like a set in a certain color of wheel aside from the stock color. we can talk and see what we can come up with. I would let you know the cons if any of whats available in the wheels available in the color of choice. I would still have you do a regular order though DVXUser here. and if there was any additional charge pending cost of wheels, i assume it would likley be a very small amount like 10.-15.00 which would be made in a seperate transaction to the same account that handles the regular orders for cost difference on the wheel set and special ordering the wheels.

let me know if you wnat me to research out a set for you and what color youd like..

..im checking with other wheel manufacturers now to see about other colors, so aside from black, anyone have any suggestions?

I just posted this in Hardware as well .
I just recieved my Dolly wheels today ..excellent !!
Even the instructions are easy to read , unlike some from the big box stores . maybe Neil should give these guys a lesson or 2 ..lol.
Neil also kepted me up todate on what was going on with the shipment etc .
Would I buy again from Neil ...Yes !!!
Thanks Neil for the excellent service. Ian Taylor

Thanks. I think yellow would look cool (with a black dolly). Red would also be cool. Basic black always works too. Let me know. I think if I had a choice--yellow. But black is totally fine too.

Iamloser, I mentioned that I was interested in one of the threads pertaining to the dolly. Probably need about two more weeks to work it into the budget, but I'm interested in neon orange wheels or bright orange wheels.

bright wheels probally arn't a good idea, be it reflections and such, sometimes a wheel of a dolly can accidently flash into the frame a white or black one is much easier to forgive than some glow in the dark bright one.

I guess it's original though :)

So i could set these up on a PVC track and the large pipe connectors wouldnt be a problem?

Yeah Iamloser just got me to update the page, he is now including screw-in quick release connectors for 1" pipe, so literally all you need is a board and some pipe to get going.

..yes. more wheels = more weight able to be on dolly, and more even weight distribution and overall stability.

imagine having a rollerblade with only one wheel. or two wheels. and go over a little bump.. youd likely trip. but a standard rollerblade with more wheels will make the transition easier and glide over the bump more easily. also if you only had two wheels imagine the amount of pressure that would be on the wheels. with a dolly youve got your weight.. possibly the weight of focus puller or camera assistant or someone else. and the weight of tripod + camera and possibly monitor or crane and seat and other heavy stuff like sandbags. imagine trying to ride 450+ lbs on a 4'x28" skateboard with only 2 wheels on each corner. those wheels would be pressing hard into the rail, and any imperfection would be felt.. more even weight ditribution means if one wheel goes over a little cut in the PVC track, the rest of the wheels will take the weight and you likely wont feel it. so if someone is heavier. or plans on dollying heavier things .. more wheels is recommended. if its just one person with some sticks and a camera.. 4 wheels per corner is pertty smooth..

and also when you go over a track connection. the weight is still on the old section of track from the back wheels as the front wheels gradually take the weight to the new track section. this helps smooth out the transition.

Hey Guys,

I'm interested in buying one today. The question is, when could I really expect to receive it?
What would it take to have it here (Los Angeles) by thursday August 25th?

Me and Paypal await your reply.

Aaaaaawwwwww Yeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhh!

I just got my set in the mail today. Neil, you've done a fantastic job with these. Anyone who is sitting on the fence, JUMP NOW! They look sharp and are built to last. I'm heading to Home Depot now to buy my deck. My next short is gonna take a giant leap in production value. I think it was like three days from order to my front door. Long live the Rowe Cinedolly.

Thanks Neil,

Xavier
