"Round One" - Sony FS100 Short Action Scene Test

A test spec I choreo'd and coordinated for Adam Lyons, who works with FreddieW and Corridor Digital on occasion. He shot and directed this with his FS100, using a 17 - 50mm Tamron Lens. We did this quickly in about 2 hours while hanging out at his apt. Enjoy! and thanks for watching.

Clean Version (No Filter Effects)

That was wonderfully done. Great cuts and coverage in 2 hours. Better than alot of action fight scenes in released movies. But why the old film scratches and hair look? This is just my taste but it doesn't fit or need it. Would love to see a clean version.

Second cut was a bit distracting and for my taste there is too much of that David Hamilton glow, but otherwise, pretty well executed.

Those dudes are damn good at what they do. Although without a good camera op that has knowledge of how to frame and shoot a fight scene, all the kung fu talent in the world wont help. These guys are a winning combintation. very impressive.

Now if they can find a good colorist, this would be gold.

Enjoyed the shooting and action, but the effects wrecked it, glow, old film look? just didn't work.

i agree with this. what is the point of having a high quality camera if you're just going to degrade it? could have shot that on a handicam hd cam...

I'm not too fond of the excess scratches and diffusion either (it's fine to have them, but they should at least be pared back), but the action works and the angles work - so the scene works. And in the end, that's all that matters.

Hey all, many thanks for the responses and critiques, much appreciated! In terms of the filtering, it was an asthetic choice by the director, but I've also been asked for requests to do a clean version, so ill try my hand at one based off the edit we made together. All I did was sound and the fight editing, nothing else. So I do apologize if my coloring isn't great either on the clean version, I'm not exactly a pro myself haha. Hope to put up soon, thanks again everyone.

This is great! Thanks for sharing. I think the scratches look weird b/c the footage is clean. Either add some grain, remove some scratches.... or, in my opinion, do both!

Much much better and proof this camera is pro ready. Oh the highlights were somewhat harsh you say, who cares, did you see the way that guy kicked ass just like in the movies.
