Rough/Stiff Focus! NEED HELP!

:( Hi there. It's been a while (about 5-6 months) since I have shot with my dvx100. A few days ago I finally picked it up again and the focus ring seems REALLY stiff. I'm wondering if the lubricant got dried up or something. Is there anyway to fix this myself? Before this happened, I could lightly touch the focus ring and it would move. Now I have to put in some negligible force to move it. I guess my camera now has REAL hard stops...haha. But seriously, I liked it the other way :huh:
 
Yes the FOCUS ring! I don't know what to do :-( I know I can take the focus ring off easily. But I haven't gotten to taking apart the focus ring to clean it. Has anyone tried it?
 
Gawd. I couldn't imagine going that long without using/abusing the camera.

I'd say it may be a temperature issue. The lube may be coagulated. Is it really cold where you live?
 
hmm... that's really strange. Maybe you just need to work it in? The lubrication still could have gummed up.

Although, do this gently.
 
Well I messed around with it, and it's getting smoother. But at times it feels a LITTLE rough. Not 100% smooth, probably 98%. I guess that's ok. I ended up taking the focus ring off, boy what a pain that was, the screws are so tiny! I tried to take the focus ring apart (there were 3 screws for that) but they were on their so tightly I couldn't get it off! Oh well. After taking the ring mechanism off I blew condensed air into the cracks, and that helped a bit.
