Rough Micro35 Tests

Rich Lee

I shoot Pirates.
Got my Micro35 today. Just played with it for an hour or so tonight. I will do some better tests next week when i get some free time.

I think i need to go back and make sure everything is fitting together well. i think the footage is OK, a bit soft, it can probly be better if i spend some time and get to know the adaptor better, which i will do next week.

about a 1 1/2 minutes of the same stuff. soon i promise to shoot some better images, take it around LA and shoot some shizzle.

btw, one of the lights was a blue LED light that does crazyness to the image. just in case someone thought something was wrong.

gotta pack! peace!

dvx100a

its definitly soft. need to play with the adaptor and dvx settings. ran through the tuts on the redrock forum. its also a really fast lens..canon 50 1.4...so its hard to focus handheld..except for the first shot 16-35 2.8...theres no excuse for it being out of focus.

i think the adaptor can do it, its user error at this point i think. still though...i got excited today just seeing that kind of dof on a video camera. fun stuff...i will get the settings worked out and post some stuff next week.

looks great rich. How long did it take for it to arrived... from ordering to recieving. I think thats the only thing holding me back from buying one. The footage looks great, love the blinging lights. yes It is a bit soft, i wonder if would degrade the footage to add a sharpen filter on it? I do that alot.

Rich, how far do you have to zoom through and how does that change the focal length?

Can you get up close? Or do you have to be backed up? How far were away from he radio you shot in this footage?

nice man

is there something you can do about the softness? like in post, uprezzin'

or is it that all miniDV rez has to deal with when you shoot it through an adapter?

Damn...

I can't wait to see what you are going to produce once you get acquainted with this hardware. But the first time test looked pretty nifty. What was all that stuff you shot?

WaveRiderXIX - it was an old german radio i have, and a little old camera. it wasnt shot in squeeze, full frame. cropped in ae.

hiro - it took about 10-11 weeks.

rook - i would have to play with it more to answer your question. but i was about 1-2 feet away from the radio for this.

Young-H._Lee - i think i just need to mess with the backfocus and try to get better focus on the film lens...that 501.4 is really fast and all the way open is hard to focus with...i think with some practice it can be sharper without any post work.

escozooz - i just used the lcd on the dvx to monitor it...i should try a pro monitor and see if that helps...i had the focus assist turned on, and everything seemed in focus when i shot it...but once i captured it, it seemed soft...just need to play with it some more i think.

aight..thanks guys...i will post some more stuff when i get around to shootin with it again.

Yep - im luvin these shots - snap with smithouse - damn I wish I had one a few weeks ago !!
Rich - how long did it take once ordered etc ?

Holy **** Carrington - I haven't seen you around these parts in like... a year and a half - ever since that dirty raver video you posted... woah flashback!

Rich said it took 11 weeks to get the product in his hands

Yeah Monte - flashback indeed - Im like Dr Who , I just fuk with time & stuff ;-)
Cheers for remembering dude.

Yep, I need to read better - 11 weeks - was right there in front ! jeeeze
