hey jarred, how do the 600's compare to say a fresnel of the same wattage?

Its actually very good.. not as soft as a Fresnel because that is what fresnels do.. but its a very nice throw, and with a softbox its fantastic. It is very cool compared to Metal Arri's for example, and the barndoors are first grade, they even are tension adjustable.

So a switchable 500W/1kW unit with 32 x 32" softbox, 8' air cushioned stand and barndoors comes to $240 including DVXuser discount. If you assume it does not include, but needs two FRG 500W lamps @ say, $50 the pair, then you've got a pretty good soft kit for under $300. Yowza!

it comes with lamps.. all the lights come with bulbs. You can get extras, which I recommend.

That switchable 500/1k light sounds awesome.. it just came out after my last order and I think im gonna pick one up.

I just bought a kit from Rostonics.com for "Unleashed". The service so far has been great.

I found the old kits on eBay then found this kit later.

Check out the Studio / Location Kits GREAT PRICES and shipping is pretty inexpensive.

Did you see that 2k? LOL, it's as big as the model holding it. Too funny.

Guys, if you're going to purchase lighting, this place is it. They're a Not-for-profit company whos proceeds go to people with disabilities.

jesus h I just bought those exact 1000w last thursday. 5% would have been nice $20 towards shipping.

I only bought the 500w Kit. The one with 2 -250's focusable, barndoors,1-24x24 softbox, 7 1/2' stands and transport cases.
On the first shoot we had 2 Arri 600's and it was WAAAY to much light for the DVX to get good latitude.

Plus, I figure, I can get a 1k later at these prices.

yeah.. the 250s are nice.. good match for the softbox, which is incredibly priced.. I bought a couple of those.

Order was shipped today. GREAT Friggin service.
The discount is only 5% but that's better than no discount and the profits go to help people with Disabilities.
I ordered the 500 watt kit and it only cost $26 bucks to ship...Sweat!

I just bought the 500w kit from Rostronics/Tom and since I was in the area, called and asked him if I could stop by and pick them up. He is one of the nicest guys you ever met and truly wants to help the disadvantaged though this company.

The lights are really fantastic!!! There should be no more questions about work lights, etc. now. These are great professional looking lights that really work well! They don't heat up too much as Jarred said and I just can't see how you can do any better for the price!

And then being able to feel good about the organization you are helping... what a great thing!

Wow, I think I'm gonna get in on this deal. Quick question though. I'll be shooting interviews indoors. Which wattage do you guys recommend? I think a 1k would be a bit much but I could be wrong.

they have a 1k that switches between 500 and 1000.. thats good, but for an indoor shoot 600s should do you fine.. just make sure you get a softbox or 2.

.. ive done no homework :-[ but does britek make any 56k kits/bulbs? my stuff now is all at 56k. ill probably get some either way, but .. worth asking first i guess.
