Rosewill Expresscard to Cardbus adapter?

Has anybody had any luck using the Rosewill Expresscard to Cardbus adapter? I've been trying for 2 days to get the P2 Viewer software to recognize the P2 card with no luck whatsoever. I've installed the P2 driver software and the P2 Viewer interface opens correctly, but it doesn't detect the card. The Panasonic software download web pages are not very clear about the procedures as far as what is necessary for the viewer to run correctly.

yes I have. It works fine. Does windows recognize the card? Can you transfer without P2 Viewer? Are you using E series cards or A/R series cards? What version of windows are you on?

I can hear the 2-tone sound windows makes when I insert the adapter with the card attached, but it doesn't show up in either windows explorer or the P2 Viewer application. I can't transfer because the card is not recognized by anything. I'm using "E" series 32 gb card with footage on it. Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit. I just upgraded last night from Visata Home Premium because it wasn't supported by P2 Viewer.

You haven't properly installed the drivers; you need to install the CardBus driver to make it work.

Yes I have the Rosewill, and yes when the drivers are installed it works fine.

Hi Barry,

Should the Cardbus driver be installed before or after the P2 Viewer app??
Also, Where exactly would I find the Cardbus driver? Is it included in the "P2 driver software" download?

Thanks

If you installed the newest drivers, and are still having trouble try to install manually by browsing for them in the folder:

Program files\Panasonic P2\Drivers\Card

look for P2cache and p2cata

one other thought. With Windows 7 I need to boot with the E series card already plugged in. Kind of a PITA, but Panasonic is behind the curve on Windows 7 compatibility. The R series cards swap fine. Try the reboot, method and see if it helps

Still having trouble. I figured out part of my problem though. I didn't realized the Cardbus Driver was included in the long list of camera drivers when installing the P2 driver software. I assumed the Cardbus driver was installed automatically when you checked the box next to the camera model (HPX300). After uninstalling everyting once to start from scratch I checked the Cardbus driver box in addition to the HPX300 box. I inserted the P2 card in addition to connecting the camera via USB cable with the camera turned on and set to USB/Device mode. During the install process the computer froze and would do nothing at all -couldn't even move the cursor-until I removed the P2 card. When I re-inserted the P@ it seemed to install OK. But still no P2 card detection. Uninstalled everything again and went to re-install Cardbus, but now it doesn't show up in the long list of drivers to check mark for installation.
I'm thinking the Cardbus driver is not uninstalling completely.
Sorry to go so long here, but thought the info might help.

I made a small amount of progress since my last post. I was able to manually install the Cardbus driver as described by 2hungrydogs-thanks for the help. But with very limited results. It seems the driver won't load when it's needed according to the device manager. At least the P2 card shows up there now as well as in Windows explorer athough it shows an empty folder when I know it has files on it. The P2 Viewer does not detect it at all. And also, the computer freezes when the P2 is inserted. When I remove the card it goes back to normal without a reboot.

shelley, do you have any a/r series cards, or can you borrow one for a test. I notice a difference that my computer will recognize the R series cards, but not the E series cards. Dp you notice any differnece with the A/R series cards?

i just purchased the rosewill adapter. my install order should be:
1. cardbus driver
2. p2 viewer
3. p2 driver (win 64-bit)

this is a question.....
