Ronin S not smooth

Hello,

I am using a ronin S with a blackmagic pocket and a laowa 12mm. The app says all is perfectly lined out, I walking like a ninja. But still I have this jerky footage. Any idea what the problem could be and how I can solve this? Never experienced this with the regular ronin or the ronin-m.

Here is some footage. https://youtu.be/ph9zwYhJjH4

Thanks!

Seems decent. Slow it down a little and put a stabilizer filter should be fine. Most of the lack of smoothness is the vertical Z axis caused by you and inconsistent speed that you're dolling. The longer and more complex the move, the harder it is to pull off. Gimbal is a poor man's substitute for dolly/crane/slider. It's better tool for other applications like a walk and talk, its not as noticeable when subject is moving and the horizon isn't prominent. The footage seen in reviews is often slowed down or the particular move has been filmed a number of times, you're watching the best take or they're a skilled operator. With more practice you'll get better and discover it's limitations.

I thought it looked pretty good. Yes 2nd what Peter said about hiding things with walk/talk scenes.
I do alot of walk/talk scenes for my indy films and have been pulling my hair out the best way to do them on a budget.
I'm about to pull the trigger on the Moza air 2 with the i focus M.
just saw today manfrotto introducing 2 new gimbals. The quietest reveal in history.
Good luck.

Looks like your footsteps. These gimbals don’t isolate/smooth the Z-axis/up & down bounce. Try holding it at an angle instead of vertically. It helps.

I have to agree that a gimbal is not really suited for slower movement of a camera where a slider, dolly or jib is the better choice. I think one has to either make a flowing motion or fixed points to go between to get a good result. People walking=use a gimbal. Finer camera motion=Slider or dolly.

Thanks all, yeah I dont want to slow it down when I want to shoot something narrative im at 24 or 25fps. But i have received footage from other shooters where their gymbal shots were so smooth so stabilized without slowing it down, or stabilizing it in post.
Like when you see the arri trinity, its so smooth.
