GH4 Ronin or Ronin-M for GH4?

I have the CAME MINI-2 and absolutely love it. I know the 3 has some encoders and stuff but I scored the 2 used for a great price and with my setup it has worked wonderfully so far!

I have owned and played with several brand gimbals and other than the movi, so far I like the ronin m, moza lite, and came Argo.

I would have liked to have a play with some of the other gimbals available but sadly there doesn't seem to be much presence here other than Ronin, at least not where I could go in to a dealer and ask for a demo. I may have got that wrong and there may be many dealers, but if so, you aren't making it obvious ;-)

My first shoot with the Ronin-M is in ten days time so I have a whole lot of practising to do. First impressions are fantastic, though, and I think I have made a choice that I will be happy with. Now the next thing to ponder is . . . to autofocus or not . . .! I'm thinking not, as it's kind of in my nature to be fully manual, but I'd be happy to learn of others' experiences and tips.

Sadly the Letus gimbal is also not available in the UK as far as I can see. Neither are any of the others that have been mentioned!

fadedjosh are you saying the Ronin or the Ronin-M is a problem?

Just spotted this thread. Sure, it is too late for you Ian, but I recently imported a Letus Helix Jr (Aluminium) into the UK. It was dead easy to do via the Letus Direct website. They ship worldwide. Total cost of doing it was about £1600 and info about how I find it (basically superb) is in the bottom half of this website page. I tested it out initially with a Canon 7D and Canon 10-22mm (i.e. a smallish DSLR camera setup, just to get the hang of it) but it was bought for (and now used almost exclusively with) my Sony FS5.

Hope this info helps someone in the UK or outside the US who is considering the Letus Helix Jr!

Thanks Andy. It is a bit late, but it is also a tad outside my budget. Actually I get a bit nervous importing electronics from overseas in case anything fails. Support and repairs then has the potential for being rather costly! I have imported a pocket jib and other bits of hardware and saved cash in doing so, so I'm not averse to it! I'll read your review with great interest and hopefully not too much envy! Cheers!
