Rokinon Cine lenses vs. Zeiss ZE/ZF lenses...

I can chime in here as Ive recently acquired a set of Samyang 14 / 24 / 35 / 85mm Cine versions. First re read Ryans post, thats got everything you need to know.

Second, I bought these as I have a number of clients right now that dont have the funds for higher end glass, period. The question I have on them is durability - not sure they are the type of lens that will last for years in fact I am pretty certain they wont. I had a good idea that would be the case before grabbing them and went in with the understanding Im probably going to work them to death literally. I really like the 35 and 85 for image especially considering the price. 14 and 24 I consider it a must to shoot to the sharpest aperture.

Couple of frame grabs for you. These are all Canon Log with a quick grade to REC.709 space. Shots chosen as I thought they may be of interest - very fine one eye focus on the 85mm wide open, lens flare characteristics etc.

This first series goes 14 mm - 24 mm - 35mm (just noticing due to image size here - not really doing them justice. May have to reup to my own site so you can take a closer look).

Rest are bits and pieces.

Thanks for the comments, all really helpful. I'll be getting the 85mm and maybe the 35mm in a few weeks first.

Nice shots, @NoelEvans!

As a bokeh nuthead, I'd like to know which ones you used for the flare, girl and in-car shots. I'm guessing 35, 85, 35 (or 14), which would make me look at the 35 with new eyes: my understanding was that it was extremely sharp but that bokeh was mediocre, but in those shots bokeh looks nice too.
